Doug Davidson is back on Y&R

Thursday on The Young and the Restless, Chance Chancellor told Adam Newman that he was done with their secrets and had been hired by Police chief Paul Williams to work at the GCPD. This was not missed by Doug Davidson fans who continue to demand that he comes back to the Genoa City action. Soap Dirt suggests that the writers don't know what to do with the 40-year veteran and struggle for storylines that he can be involved in. The spoiler even suggested several plots that would have Paul interact with various other characters and you can read about it here. Davidson's fans continue to reach out to him on social media asking when he will return and his answer is always the same.

The man who has portrayed Paul Williams for 4 decades keeps saying that the head honchos at The Young and the Restless have his phone number. Viewers find it strange that Davidson was brought back after a year being MIA but was only used for a few episodes. Not trying to sound like a broken record, but Paul, Christine, Michael, and Lauren deserve much better and the writers need to do them justice. Fans hoped that during the taping hiatus Josh Griffith would come up with storylines befitting for the long time cast members, but he did not. Almost every episode revolves around Amanda being Hilary's twin and Adam Newman in one form or another.

Doug Davidson's loyal fans continue to reach out to him on Twitter, telling the actor they miss him and want him back. Josh Griffith has never addressed why he stopped using Paul but perhaps his being mentioned by Chance is a clue that he will soon be back, or they may have just thrown his name out for good measure. Eric Braeden who portrays Victor Newman on Y&R has said often on Facebook and Twitter that he does not agree with how "Dougy" Davidson has been treated. In spite of support from the fans and his colleagues, Paul Williams continues to be off-screen.

The former head writer executive producer Mal Young lost his job after viewers complained in record numbers about his decisions. John Griffith promised to bring back the glory days of Genoa City but he has not. Adam, Chelsea, and Amanda were not a part of the show during that time but Griffith seems to think the fans want to see them in the same old situations with Phyllis, and Abby. Many things that spoiler alerts said would happen have not and this is disappointing to the fans. Viewers are glad that the bad gum-chewing Billy is no more and are waiting to see if he romances Lily.

Paul and Michael

Fans did not like Cane Ashby leaving town on a wild goose chase and not even being notified that his father returned Devon's money. Those who watch The Young and the Restless would like Cane to return and also see more of Jill, Chloe, and Kevin, and Michael Lauren as well as Paul. The topic comes up often on various Facebook groups that are dedicated to Y&R and the cast. On Tuesday, Soap Opera News revealed that Doug Davidson is indeed headed back to the CBS daytime drama after a hiatus since February. There were no details regarding what storylines he would be involved in but there are two that might need the chief of police to get involved.

Alyssa and Billy are working together to find out the truth regarding Adam killing a man in Vegas to save Chance. Nevada would be out of Paul's jurisdiction but he might be the one to apprehend Adam and turn him over the Los Vegas authorities. Spoilers revealed on Wednesday that Alyssa is going to go missing. Paul will probably have to investigate and find out what happened to her. There are so many layers to this story that it would be like a good " who done it." Adam, Chelsea, Billy, Victor, Victoria, and Chance would all need to be interrogated and each of their stories would be a piece of the puzzle. Stay tuned for more information regarding Doug Davidson's return to The Young and the Restless and what his character Paul will be involved with.
