Devon and Amanda will hit a big roadblock on “The Young and the Restless'

The Young and the Restless viewers were divided on Mishael Morgan returning to the show. Some fans wanted to see her new Amanda character with Devon while others thought it wrong for him to date Hilary's twin. At first, it seemed that Elena and Devon were solid and that Amanda might be paired with Nate or Billy. Some fans saw it all as smoke and mirrors and correctly said Hilary's twin would eventually be pointed towards her widower. The duo has been bonding and recently Amanda confided in Devon about her encounter with her birth mother.

Spoilers say Devon will soon go away alone to think about his feelings for his late wife's identical sibling. This is most likely because there is one big hurdle that will never truly be resolved between. This particular issue might just keep them apart. Devon will have to deal with the fact that Amanda is the identical twin to his deceased spouse. He will have to decide if he truly is falling for the lawyer, or if his emotions are tied to the fact that she is an exact replica of her sister.

Y&R viewers will remember that in the early stages of his relationship with Elena that Devon was hallucinating about his dearly departed spouse. The two of them had arguments because he could not seem to move on. Now the woman in his life is a dead ringer for Hilary and happens to be her identical twin. Falling for his wife's double may cause confusion because after all the sisters were look-alikes. Can Devon really look at Amamda and not see the woman he adored?

It was a major roadblock in his relationship with Elena that Devon could not get over Hilary. Elena even accepted that she would never hold the same place in his heart as his first wife. Early on when Amanda came to Genoa City, Devon had a hard time looking at her and began seeing his dead wife again. It’s possible that when he goes away he may come to a serious revelation. He could realize that he is actually trying to replace Hilary with her sister. It's also possible that he will recognize that he is falling in love with Amanda for who she is.

In Genoa City, it seems to be a given, by some residents, that Devon and Amanda will eventually begin a relationship. Some recent spoilers suggested that Elena might get back with her ex, but after all, that has happened, why would she want to. Ms.Dawson was tortured by the memories of Hilary and how Devon had her mementos all over the penthouse. Why would anyone desire to relive that type of pain? Since Mishael Morgan is sticking around and there are a lot of fans who enjoy her with Bryton James, it's probable that Amanda and Devon will get together.

While he is out of town, the most likely scenario is that he will decide to tell Amanda he cares for her and not the memory of her deceased sister. Whatever he decides, the identical twin factor will be a huge hurdle, until the writers decide to place it in the past. They could have Devon and Amanda move on from this and Hilary Curtis Hamilton never be mentioned again. However it plays out, a brutally honest moment of clarity is needed. There is no way to go forward unless the elephant in the room is addressed.

On the flip side, however, is how Ms. Sinclair feels about all of this. Everyone is so focused on Devon that they forget Amanda has a say so in the matter. She could have her own reservations as Elena did, and question Devon's true feelings. She may not even want to be in a relationship that is so complicated and she is in her sister's shadow. It's also possible that she might decide to jump in headfirst. Amanda is hurting after the encounter with her birth mother and needs a place where she feels she belongs.

Falling for Devon who can tell her all about the sibling she never met might bring Amanda some peace and closure. Perhaps she can simply accept where she is in life and begin building new memories and perhaps even a family with Devon.
