CuriosityStream is a great streaming choice for people who enjoy watching documentaries and learning new things about a wide variety of subjects. It appeals to people who are, like the name states, curious.

With a price of just a couple dollars a month, this streaming service is well worth the money, and literally has something for everybody.

You can browse by category (listed below), each of which has a huge selection of sub categories to choose from.

Science—from physics to geology to psychology, and many other options.

History—from prehistory to modern history to megastructures, and all kind of other things.

Technology—from energy to nanotechnology to privacy and security, and everything in between.

Nature—from oceans to plants to animals, and anything else you can think of when you think of nature.

Society –from entrepreneurship to politics to crime, or business, economics, or social issues.

Lifestyle—from food to creativity to home projects and philosophy.

Kids—from dinosaurs to space exploration to current events.

And in each of these categories and subcategories there are more videos to watch than you can really keep track of.

Browsing collections is a good way to find videos to watch.

If you’d rather not browse by category—and you might not want to, as having so many choices can be overwhelming, you can also browse collections curated by CuriosityStream staff. These include such topics as:

To the Moon and Beyond

Archeology

Violent Earth

Breakthroughs

Spooky Stuff

Black Voices

If a favorite celebrity’s narration might make you want to watch a video regardless of its subject, you’ll find Harrison Ford, Sigourney Weaver, Olivia Colman, Queen Latifiah, and Mike Rowe to name a few, lending their talents.

You’ll also find David Attenborough and David McCullough hosting shows. You’ll find videos about Jane Goodall, Frank Sinatra, Shaquille O’Neal, Jack London, Winston Churchill, Eleanor Roosevelt, Walt Disney.

And of course, you can always just search for what you’re curious about. Be crazy and type anything in the search box and see if you don’t get results.

Seriously, if you can think of It, there’s probably a CuriosityStream program for you to watch.

My favorite program on CuriosityStream.

Personally, I prefer to browse, since I never know really what’s going to strike my fancy on any given day. That’s how I found my all-time favorite video, The Science of Bubbles. Bubbles are way more fascinating than you could possibly imagine (or maybe you could!). Watch this program and you’ll learn how penguins use bubbles, why and how scientists study bubbles, and how important bubbles actually are to life.

Here are just a few of the things I’ve learned on CuriosityStream:

In Underwater Wonders of the National Parks, one of the things I learned was about something called liquid sand.

I learned more about one of my favorite artists, MC Escher, and the incredible images he creates. I learned about optical illusions, improving brain function, birds dropping dead out of the sky, and even shopping! And I’ve only barely scratched the surface of what’s offered.

In Redesign My Brain: Mind Over Matter I watched a man who didn’t swim learn how to wrap himself up in locked chains, drop to the bottom of a pool, and escape before running out of air.

It’s mind boggling.

Underwater Wonders introduced me to something called liquid sand. Who knew?

Another one of the great things about streaming CuriosityStream, other than just the amazing variety and quality of the videos offered, is that many of them are short—under 20 minutes. For me this is wonderful, as I don’t always have an hour or more to watch. It’s astonishing how much you can learn in such a short period of time.

Truthfully, I shouldn’t be allowed to go to the CuriosityStream website: I always spend way more time there than I mean to, and end up adding even more videos to my watchlist, which is already so full I’ll probably never be able to watch them all.

Seriously, I just can’t get enough of this site. I talk about it all the time and recommend it to friends, and I even gave a year subscription to my brother with a big recommendation to watch the program about the bubbles! (He did and he enjoyed it, though maybe not as much as I did.)

I really cannot speak highly enough of CuriosityStream. There is something for every person, and every interest, and it comes at a budget price.

Satisfy your curiosity, learn lots of interesting factoids, and entertain yourself for hours. That’s what CuriosityStream can do for you.
