Christian pre and post-COVID.

Fans should play nice.

One of the more interesting aspects of the coronavirus is taking place in daytime drama. Due to COVID restrictions, the actors are having to do their own hair and makeup. This must be difficult when these soaps stars have had professionals to do this for them for years, even decades. Some fans have made ugly comments but most have been supportive. Kelly Thiebaud and Chad Duell who are on General Hospital were on the receiving end of nasty fans who don’t like their new look. Thiebaud is wearing bangs and Duel is thinking of or has cut his hair. Melody Thomas who portrays Nikki Newman on The Young and the Restless was belittled by some viewers because she wore a wig in a few scenes.

Some fans of The Bold and the Beautiful didn’t like how Kiera Barnes, (Zoe Buckingham) began wearing her hair after new scenes aired. Previoulsy her hair was dark and wavey and Barnes had blue eyes. Now her hair is brown and so are her eyes. Viewers have not been shy in expressing their dislike for the change. A few daytime stars are embracing their natural look and one of them is Christian Le Blanc who portrays Michael Baldwin on The Young and the Restless. LeBlanc has allowed his mane to go completely gray and he had been dubbed a true silver fox by his fans. In one photo he is even sporting a beard.

Leblanc's character Michael Baldwin has not been in any scenes since Y&R began airing new episodes. Michael will hopefully be on hand when his sister in law Chloe goes into labor, which should be soon. Michael is the DA but he never is shown in court and is really not a part of any current storyline. His wife Lauren is mentioned from time to time but she is rarely on screen either. It's almost as if the Baldwin family no longer exists. It's not a stretch to wonder if Y&R is trying to dismantle this popular clan. The matriarch Gloria, simply disappeared one day and has not been mentioned for quite some time.

The Ashby family was one of the most beloved on the show and yet they were torn apart. Lily divorced Cane and left Genoa City, the twins were sent away to college and later Cane sold their home and left town never to return. Lily is back but all alone without her husband or children. Y&R fans have been complaining about not seeing the Baldwin/Fisher family but so far has changed. Whenever Christian LeBlanc returns, viewers who have not seen his new style might be shocked that he is totally gray. Hopefully he will receive support instead of the hate that other soap stars have.

William deVry, who portrays Julian Jerome on General Hospital addresses the hate regarding hairstyles on Twitter. He points out that viewers don’t control the actors, and don't have the right to tell them what to do. Social media is bringing out the worst in some people and it's really an epidemic. We can only hope that those who watch The Young and the Restless will allow Christian LeBlanc to have some peace regarding his hair. Whether someone likes it or not, no one has the right to be cruel. As William deVry said, sometimes people just want a change.

The Young and the Restless has not given a time frame for when Chloe and Kevin will welcome their baby boy. It might a little awkward for viewers watching them go through this life event when they have not been seen in so long. Chloe is good friends with Chelsea, and Michael and Phyllis are besties. Chelsea is going through hell since finding out that Adam killed a man when he was a child and her buddy is nowhere to be seen. Phyllis is back together with Nick and battling Abby for the hotel, yet her best friend has not once been around to offer either legal or personal advice. Stay tuned to find out when baby Fisher is born and find out the fate of his relatives.
