CBS Soaps: 2022 Daytime Emmy Nominations

The 49th Daytime Emmy Awards will be held live on Friday, June 24, at the Pasadena Civic Center. Cheryl Underwood from The Talk will be this year’s solo host. Underwood has appeared on the CBS daytime drama The Bold and the Beautiful several times in recent years. The 2022 ceremony can be seen live on CBS and the Paramount + streaming service from 9:00 until 11:00 ET. Those who tune in will notice a few changes this year. Some categories that had been part of the Daytime Emmys are now on the primetime awards show. This year, daytime soaps and talk shows will now be included in categories like hair and makeup.

The Young and the Restless had the most nominations of the four soaps with 18 and for the first time in years “Y&R” has led in total nominations. The Bold and the Beautiful had the least nods with only 8. This will be the 16th time CBS has broadcast the Daytime Emmys and also has the honor of hosting the awards ceremony more than any other network. Nominees no longer on the soaps

Aaron D Spears was showcased as Thete are former cast members who are being recognized on both dating drama series.Justin on The Nold and the Besutiful when he tried to take over Bill Dpencer’s ( Don Fismint) empire but is no longer on the soap. On Te Young and the Restless, Slubis Lind left to work on other tone te and was replaced with Reylym Caster. Jordi Biladuso was recently fired and his character killed off.

Daytime Emmy Facts

The Daytime Emmy Awards are bestowed by the New York–based National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. The honors are given in recognition of "excellence in American daytime television programming". The first awards for daytime were given out in 1972 during the primetime Emmy ceremony. In 1974, the first daytime Emmy Awards show debuted. The Doctors and General Hospital were the first nominees and The Doctors.

Daytime viewers may not have noticed this but in October 2019, the NATAS National Association of Television Arts and Sciences)decided to replace both the younger actor and actress in drama categories with a single gender-neutral one.
