Bo and Hope the most iconic super couple in soap history

May 4, 1983 is a day that those who watched Days of Our Lives will never forget. It was the date that Brady met his Fancy Face and history was born. Recently Soap Opera Digest did a survey and Bo Brady and Hope Williams Brady were voted the number one daytime super couple of all time. The romance was ended several times when each actor left the NBC soap to pursue other projects. The love story ended on camera when Peter Reckell decided to leave his popular role and Bo died in Hope's arms from a brain tumor in 2015. In 2020 Kristian Alphonso walked away from the role she held off and on for close to 38 years.

Peter Reckell and Kristian Alphonso had such dynamic chemistry that many fans were hoping they were dating off-screen. Unfortunately, there were rumors that the duo really did not get along but so the love was only for the fans. The couple was always cordial to one another when they did interviews so those who enjoyed their work never picked up on anything. I recall that when I would come home from work my first born who was 3 or 4 at the time would shout to m what Bo and Hope had been up to before my grandma could tell me.

Things were not the same when Hope believed she was Princess Gina and Reckell was replaced by Robert Kelker Kelly. As far as DAYS OF OUR LIVES fans are concerned there will only be one Beaureguard Brady and Hope Williams Brady. The 80'[s really were the decade of celebrating love and romance and Bo and Hope are proof positive.

I can remember that Bope were my favorite couple and I loved every scene they were in. Their romance began so sweet and innocent and I loved every moment of it. I cried each time either Reckell or Alphonso left DAYS OF OUR LIVES and I was mourning when Bo died after Peter Reckell said he would no longer portray the iconic character. This couple had adventures like no other and then would sail away in their boat The Fancy Face.

One of my best memories was when DOOL rewrote the script when Hope as Princess Gina found out she was pregnant. She thought the baby belonged to John Black but later it was revealed that Hope and Bo were being held captive in the same location and had made love and the baby Zack belonged to them. During the flashback scene, Bo and Hope supposedly were being brainwashed but as they made love they referred to each other as "Fancy Face" and "Brady" which indicated that subconsciously, each knew who the other was. I don't believe fans would have had it any other way.

I do believe there are more youtube videos dedicated to Bo and Hope than any other soap couple.he pairing won the "America's Favorite Supercouple" award at the 2002 Emmy Awards. In 2005, SOAPnet celebrated the 40th anniversary of Days of our Lives by airing a marathon of Bo and Hope episodes. Entertainment Weekly calls Bope one of the greatest super couples and to their fans, they are the greatest. In May 2009 Peter Reckell and Kristian Alfonso were invited to be international guests at the Australian Logie Awards. The duo were also the face of Avon's Blue Rush perfume advertising campaign. They were also given a special award by Soap Opera Digest for being the most famous soap couple of all time.

Bo and Hope were the faces of true love in the afternoons but sadly today much of daytime television is all about hook ups and break ups. Peter Reckell left his role as Bo Brady in 2015. In November of 2020, however, the actor said regarding a return, “ Never say Never”. Kristian Alfonso walked away from DOOL last year and said she would never go back to the NBC daytime drama. She added that Ken Corday told her that her character would never be recast. Even so there are fans who still love this duo and would gladly welcome them back to Salem if the writers made a way.
