Allison Lanier: Getting to know the recast Summer Newman

The Young and the Restless moves on from Hunter King with Allison Lanier

Actress Allison Lanier has been hired as a Summer Newman recast on The Young and the Restless according to soap spoilers Soaps in Depth, TV Line and Caleb Dirty Laundry. She replaces Hunter King who was beloved in the role but left in October to work on other projects. King has returned briefly via video chat but is currently filming sn unnamed horror flick. Michael Mealor who portrayed Kyle Abbott left Y&R at the same times as King but he did not mention being hired for any other roles and now he is returning as Kyle Abbott.

The storyline dictates a full time Summer and the CBS soap began looking for a replacement for King in February. Lanier steps into the role of a legacy character who during the past 16 years was portrayed by the following actresses. Elara and Rhea Kerwin (2006–2008) Bianca and Chiara D'Ambrosio (2008) Sophia and Angelia Hert (2008–2009) Samantha Bailey (2009–2012) Lindsay Bushman (2012) Hunter King (2012–2022) Bayley Corman was a temporary recast for King in 2018.

King was the fan favorite but now the torch has been passed. The top two questions fans have about the new Summer are what type of chemistry Allison will have with Michael and whether or not she is related to Chloe Lanier who portrayed Nelle Hayes on ABC’s General Hospital. Time will tell how well Mealor and Lanier work together but as far as Allison’s personal life not much is known at this time. Thanks

Summer Newman: An unconventional character

The character of Summer was born inside of a stalled elevator in 2006 and delivered by Jack Abbott who believed the child to be his. It was later revealed that Summer’s mom Phyllis Summers ((Michelle Stafford) had cheated on her husband and Nick Newman (Josh Morrow was her biological father. For a time Kyle and Summer grew up in the same household as stepbrother and sister and over the decades went through a lot of changed before acknowledging they were in love and getting married. Allison Lanier: What Y&R viewers need to know

Lanier’s Summer will be making her Genoa City debut by being a part of several current from burner storylines. Susan Walters has just returned to The Young and the Restless as Kyle’s mother Diane Jenkins who had been presumed dead. This will be shocking news and Kyle will need his wife to Leo him deal with his manipulative mom. Kyle will also soon meet the newest member of the Abbott family his deceased older half brother Keemo’s daughter Allie Nuguyen (Kelsey Wang). Summer’s aunt Victoria Newman. ( Amelia Heinle) was just involved in a deadly car cras and her step mom Sharon Newman’s husband Rey Rosales ( Jordi Vilasuso) died in the accident.

.Spoilers say the new Summer will arrive in Genoa City from Milan sometime in May. Lanier looks familiar it’s because she had a recurring role as Annabelle on the Amazon series Red Oaks. She can also be seen as the character Megan in It Happened in L.A. and in the indie films Fish Bones and Mia. The actress was born on August 4, 2990 and identifies as a Christian. Skype is a popular couple and with Mealor returning it will be easier for fans to accept Lanier than if both Kyle and Summer were recast.
