Monday on The Young and the Restless a murder mystery begins after Chaddam goes to Kansas. The point of the trip was for Conner to see the home where his father grew up. By the end of the episode the couple will have gotten more than they bargained for from this trip down memory lane. While Adam and Chelsea are chatting in his mother’s farmhouse and Conner is playing outside, they receive a visit from Adam’s childhood friend, Alyssa. As they reminisce about the past, Alyssa talks about her father AJ, who died after falling from the hayloft. She says he was a loan shark and not well liked and even spent time in jail. When she mentions that Hope was kind to her during that troubling time, she recalls that Victor was also in town.

After Alyssa leaves the house, the wheels begin turning in Adam’s mind. He says that Victor did not come around much during his childhood and he finds the timing of this particular visit suspect. He does not say it out loud, but he believes his father had something to do with AJ’s murder. This is an interesting turn of events as some viewers thought a retired Victor Newman would fade into the woodwork. Long time fans of The Young and the Restless know that Victor Newman is capable of pretty much anything. He had Billy kidnapped and sent Chelsea to seduce him. This is how she ended up pregnant with Johnny.

Victor and Hope

Victor had Jack kidnapped and a lookalike replaced him who even slept with Phyllis. Meanwhile Jack was thought to be a vicious criminal and placed in jail in another country. The Newman patriarch can be ruthless with family as well as his enemies. He proved this when he had Kevin hack into Nick’s bank accounts and withdraw his inheritance money. Chelsea and Adam should realize whatever they are planning will eventually backfire. They have both watched Bicyor come out on top of every situation and always get the best of those who oppose him. They are ignoring all of this because their feelings are hurt that Nick was chosen over Adam.

Victor and Adam never see eye to eye.

It would not be a stretch to believe that somehow Victor was involved with AJ’s death but he probably did not actually commit murder. Perhaps he got wind of the unscrupulous business practices this man had been accused of. Hope might have been duped by AJ in some manner and Bicyor decided to confront him. The Newman patriarch could have been in the loft when Alyssa’s father fell and for some reason he walked away and left him to die. The two men could have been arguing or even fighting and the fall was an accident. Victor might have thought that no one would believe him so he left AJ. Perhaps the accident was after Victor left and he had nothing to do with it. The Young and the Restless is great with revisionist history so who knows what they will come up with.

Chelsea and Adam have vowed revenge against the Newman patriarch because he chose Nick as the CEO in Victoria’s place, so there is no telling what they are capable of. Another possibility is they might try to somehow frame Victor for a crime he did not commit. Spoiler alerts have not revealed their plan but only say d the duo will uncover something while in Kansas. This will be a much needed diversion from the usual predictable dialogue between Adam and Victor and Nick snd his half brother. Chaddam will probably pick the brains of Alyssa and her mother in order to piece together a timeline related to AJ’s death. Should they come up with something incriminating Adam could use it as a bargaining tool. He might promise to keep quiet if his father will put him in the CEO seat instead of Nicholas.

There is also a chance that Adam might turn his father in to the authorities and slander his name, but that won’t get Nick out of the CEO seat. Either way, Chaddam will feel as if they have exacted their pound of flesh and obtained vengeance. It may get dark for a while and look as if the prodigal son has gotten the best of his father, but viewers know the end game. The most powerful man in Genoa City always crushes his enemies so Chaddam had better be ware. Fans will enjoy the ride and have fun figuring out the clues but when all is said and done, Victor Newman will still be on top. Be sure to tune in to The Young and the Restless each weekday afternoon on CBS at 12:30 PM EST. March madness has been cancelled so there will be no missed episodes this week.
