As your castle, armies and allies grow stronger, you get to conquer more and more of Westeros. However, we are getting a bit ahead of ourselves. You need to learn how to walk before you can run. Let’s start with the basics. I proudly present to you 15 beginner tips for Game Of Thrones Winter is Coming. These tips have come from trial and error of personal experience. I wanted to share what I have learned with everyone so you guys don’t have to make the same embarrassing mistakes I did.

Tip One: Speed Up Construction, Training and Research

Not only does using "Speed Ups" help you level up faster, but there are some extra rewards involved in using your speed-ups. In the "Active Rewards," there is a reward for using a total of 60 minutes worth of "Speed Ups." The reward is one "10 Minute Speed Up," a "Grilled Sausage’"and "20 Activity Points." The best part is that since it’s an "Active Award," that means you can claim this reward once a day, every day.

There is also usually an event or two that rewards you for using "Speed Up"’ for a total of a certain amount of time.

You don’t have to spend real money to speed up construction. There are all kinds of ways to get "Speed Ups" for free.

Tip Two: Join an Alliance

Alliances make the game significantly better. When you are in an alliance, you have access to more rewards and quests and your alliance can help protect you if another player attacks your castle.

You might want to check if your alliance has any rules. It is possible to get kicked out. However, with that said… if you think your alliance has too many rules (or not enough players), you can always leave your current alliance to join another one. You can even make an alliance if you want.

Tip Three: Level Up Your Lord

Blitzing your Lord’s Weirwood spot, completing research tasks, completing all alliance quests and attacking rebel leaders are all great examples of ways to level up your Lord.

You need to level up your Lord in order to level up your commanders.

Tip Four: Level Up Your Commanders

A good way to advance through your story quests.

Tip Five: Spend Your Lord's Talent Points

A little bird told me that you should try to spend most of your points on the right side (but you didn’t hear that from me). If you have already spent them all on the left side, don’t worry! There is a special item that allows you to reset your talent points.

Tip Six: Claim Your "Active Rewards"

Some "Active Rewards" are as easy as sending a message in a chat or giving a food item to one of your commanders. Other are a bit more challenging… however, I am sure you will complete a lot of them without even realizing it, which is why it’s important to check your "Active Rewards" to make sure to claim any that you have already earned just by simply playing the game.

As I mentioned earlier, "Active Rewards" are daily, which means that every day you get to collect a bunch of amazing rewards all over again!

Tip Seven: Unlock the Areas of Your City

This is a part of the Story Quests, so chances are that you have already started doing this. You will get awesome rewards as you progress as well as more space to build all kinds of building. This means you will have more opportunities for things like increasing your army size and increasing the amount of wood you get.

Tip Eight: Know Your Quests and Complete Your Quests

Story Quests, Main Quests, Alliance Quests and VIP Quests.

Tip Nine: If You Get the Chance, Get Melisandre!

Her commander skill speeds up construction and it has really helped speed things along.

You don't need to jump in and buy her right away. I waited until I got a special offer and I got her for $1. I'm sure the same deal will come around again.

Tip Ten: Use the Merchant Ship to Trade

Unfortunately, you have to be a certain level to unlock the Merchant Ship. However, unlocking that ship is a good goal to make because it is a great way to get more "Speed Ups." Some of the "Speed Ups" you can get from the Merchant Ship are as long as eight hours, and all you have to do is trade in game items like grain and wood.

It’s also one of the Active Rewards to make two trades, which is a nice bonus.
