Me: A Nurse

In a world that was so lively to a world that needs help in so many ways and not even sure where to begin. What a harrowing time. Life used to be so full of life. Now you are lucky to find any life.

A nurse takes care of people at home and because the government has gone all to hell, there is no more work for her with the government. She used to work with the State to help take care of people who didn’t want to have to go to a nursing home or some sort of facility to live out the rest of their lives. Now there are no jobs because the state started taking all of the money that they paid the nurses with and took it upon themselves to take what money they could from the nurses, before the nurses were paid and leaving nurses with little pay to live on.

Government and states are stealing from the people who work for them and then shut down because they don’t have enough nurses to take care of the people because no nurses want to work for someone who is going to steal their money before they even get paid.

People who nurses used to care for at home now find themselves moving into facilities that take a way freedom. People who used to be able to go out anytime they wanted to and return anytime they wanted to has been taken away from them. The people no longer have a say in how they live their lives. Nurses at the same time lose their ability to be able to work for people in their own homes and to help these people lead a life of the peoples choices.

So the only logical thing to do for the nurses would be to go to work in nursing homes or facilities for the disabled. Now that nurses start working in nursing homes or facilities, they lose their freedom to care for people in a free feeling atmosphere. The people lose their rights and freedom to live their way of life. There are new rules to go by. The system that home nursing held is gone forever.

There isn’t much we nurses can do about it anymore. We as nurses are no longer there to watch and enjoy the lives of the people and the way the people like to live. There are rules and the people must go by the rules. There are new rules for nurses as well. Everybody must follow the rules or be lost behind. The nurses have no options but to go where the work is and the only places now are with in facilities.

While working in a facility, a nurse gets to know most of the people who live there. This nurse strikes up many nice relationships with the people who live there. Especially in room 102, where two elderly couple live. Inside that room are the two most precious elderly woman that the nurse has ever met. They begin sharing their lives and stories. Only to become so close that they find it hard to function without knowing how each other are doing when they haven't’ seen the nurse in a couple of days. The nurse begins to feel the desperate attempt by her elderly friends to hold onto the outside world through this nurse.

Their families don’t visit them very often. The people who live inside these facilities become very unknowing of what is happening outside.

One of the older women in room 102 goes into heart failure one day and the other woman is found at her bedside holding onto her dear friend and looking at the nurse with frightened eyes. Wondering what is happening and feeling so alone. As the one woman is rushed to the hospital, thee other woman is left behind wondering what will happen to her dear friend and roommate. The nurse is there to comfort her.

In this time of waiting, the older woman who was left behind wondering, is now sitting in her room with the nurse sitting beside her and comforting her. The patient bends over to open a little drawer in her nightstand that sits beside her bed and pulls out this beautiful little heart shaped locket and lays it gently into the nurses' palm of her hand and says, “No matter what happens from this day on, take this to remind you of me and what we shared together.”. The nurses' eyes tear up with so much love and wonder of the moment and how much this moment meant to this elderly woman sitting next to the nurse on her bed.

It’s quite sad that people should have to live this way, but a blessing that they have each other. But what they don’t have is the freedom to follow their dreams any longer. They have lost their will to live. They hold onto the little bit of good left and try to live off that.

As a nurse, this is not a good or healthy way to live. The facilities become the elderly or disabled peoples care givers. There is no more independence, no more outings to enjoy on their own or with friends and families who don’t want to see them this way and avoid going in to visit the people who live within these facilities. It’s hard for families to see their loved ones held by rules and the love of freedom in the people’s eyes have disappeared and the families or friends don’t want to see this. So, they quit visiting.

We need the states and the government to acknowledge the elderly and disabled people especially in these days of Cayous. This is a world where the government or the states don’t know how to handle the situations as well. They only know how to take away freedom’s and keep it for themselves. The states and the governments quit looking at the people and only look at themselves and how they can survive this world of Cayous.

The people are left behind trying to pick up what little bit of life left for them that they can scrape up for themselves. Rights and Freedoms are taken away from people all in the name of Government or State. We need to work together to make a difference and make things happen, but the States and the Governments have all given up. They are confused and only trying to help themselves survive in a world in a state of confusion. They forget that life involves everyone.
