A Hole in the Moon
Zen’s Log: September 8, 2026 This is the one time I hope I’m wrong, but I am impressed that I am more right than I ever wanted to be. Why in the hell did I… never mind that Zen, it doesn’t matter. These past six years have been strangely quiet, but strangely long as well. What on earth possessed me to watch the numbers? Math. Just Math. I like math. Actually, I liked math, now I think I hate it, but I don’t understand why. I want to be right, because, well, I like being right. I also want to be wrong, very wrong. But the numbers. Numbers don’t lie, they never have. Math, equations, graphs… Three more days.

Charmaine van der MerwePublished 4 years ago in Futurism5 Things We Can Learn From Esther
The story of Esther in the bible tells of a beautiful young woman who happened to find favour in the eyes of a King named Hegai, and became his Queen in return. What was unknown about Esther, however, was that she was a Jew, and when the rest of the Jews in the province were being subject to a plot that would destroy them all, she used her position to fight for her people and save them from this massacre.
What is a Wizard?
Thanks to the Harry Potter series, and other works of more modern fantasy like the Dresden Files, wizards have become cool again. Though they were once relegated to the pages of dime novel fantasy and Dungeons and Dragons role playing books, or found only as supporting cast members in old fairy tales and myths, today's wizards have shaved off their beards, hit the gym, and become powerful protectors of humanity in modern fiction. The re-imagining has led a lot of fans to question why wizards were always learned old gray beards with a penchant for philosophy, though. Is it just a stereotype that was built upon cultural touchstones, or was there something more to it?

BOOK REVIEW: ON A BLUE MOON: THE INCREDIBLE JOURNEYS BY WILLOW
RATING: 4/5 FORMAT: PAPERBACK The lives of a man from Earth, an alien being, and a young girl converge on a moon deep in space. A violent act is the spark that ignites incredible journeys. The moon has three human societies. In each society there is an evil presence that the man, girl, their friends, and their loved ones must confront, or flee from. In the end, life on that moon is vastly transformed. Willow is the author of ON A BLUE MOON. That tale, and the five to follow, are based on her experiences, and the accounts related to her by the many beings she has known, both human and nonhuman. Those tales are collectively THE DAUGHTERS OF FIRTH TALES. At the beginning of each tale, after the Prologue and before the first chapter, Willow and her daughter, Frither, are together and interacting. Their banter is the thread that ties the six tales together by providing an introduction to each tale, and a hint about what’s to come. Sam is the main protagonist at the beginning of ON A BLUE MOON. As it and future tales progress, Willow, Frither, and the other daughters of Firth, become the driving force. Earth, as viewed from space, is primarily blue. So is Bluemoon. Bluemoon represents a much less complex version of Earth, yet possess some of the malignant forces of our “real world”: a malicious leader of an autocratic society, a ruthless despot who has his henchmen kill anyone who dares oppose him, racism, and environmental destruction. Shadow, an alien Meddler, represents an uncontrollable force that drastically alters Sam’s life’s journey, and that of the inhabitants of Bluemoon. Similar to how forces beyond our control shape our lives on Earth. Overriding everything else, the tales are about the courage of individuals intervening to protect the vulnerable, while so many others observe but do nothing.
Ashley Nestler, MSWPublished 4 years ago in FuturismOrwellian Times ~ 2020 Where is Neo?!
When humanity is at its the pinnacle of change, which way do we decide to go. War is peace, freedom is slavery and ignorance is strength. Some of you all might be familiar with these words from the world famous novel, 1984. He speaks of a time when the world is under a one world order control, dissonance, fear, obidience and even the essence of humans when they are afraid of their ruler. Well, let’s just say a people can be controlled if they are indeed dependent upon one source. Why do we as humans stay co-dependent, why do we not break from the grips of control and love truly free?

Mark GrahamPublished 4 years ago in FuturismLiving with a Disability During COVID-19
I love words. I am a logophile- "a lover of words." When this pandemic happened, no one knew what to do. Live like it was a normal day. But the “normal” day turned into wearing a mask to cover your nose and mouth, gloves to cover your hands when you went out. Animals were immune to it, or so we thought. But the key to never getting this deadly virus was keeping yourself clean, shower everyday, wash your hands and brush your teeth.
Julie UnruhPublished 4 years ago in FuturismSADDLEBAGS, Trunks, and Tombs
Chapter 6 Jackson: As he struggled to sit up, he was again amazed that he felt no pain. He was most certain that he had been shot four to five times, yet here he was, pain free and strangely rested. He tried to shield his eyes from the blazing sun of the high noon, though it seemed the sun was not only above him but all around him. It was at that very moment that ‘Old Jack” jumped to his feet. Something was wrong, very wrong, with his hands. Not moments ago, his hands had been soft and cream colored, with the small size and velvety feel of the eastern gentleman, which of course he was.

Jauren RiloskiPublished 4 years ago in FuturismSalyn Silverthorn
Today was going to be an unusual day. These words were always the first to enter Salyn's mind when his eyes first opened. Salyn found himself on the fringes of Watervale, a small hamlet that has been prospering as of late. Nestled on a babbling brook, Watervale in appearance appears to be the ideal place to live. Sturdy homes, hearty soldiers, and an expansive farm. Spring always brought an ample supply of Salmon for the younger residents to fish out. Bright rays tanning those who stayed outside for to long and burning those who were lulled to sleep by the gentle song of birds. It was peaceful, just like Salyn liked it.
