The Calling
We stood in the main hall like a constellation of stars as we listened to the chancellor call out people's names. We must have been standing for longer than an hour. Every time the chancellor opened his lips I fear he will say my name or one that I recognise. I could feel my heart beating. I feel paranoid. I look to my side and see my sister, Cassie. She is a few years younger than me and barely reaches my shoulder. She's pretty. Her face is covered in freckles. Her hair is long and falls down her back. Her hair is tawny like a lion's fur or a least what I think a lion's fur looks like. I've never seen one in the flesh. I've only ever seen them in pictures hung up on her wall. Cassie bites her lip as her leg trembles. Everyone else hides their emotions. I gently squeeze Cassie's hand. For a moment she looks at me and I crack a comforting smile. She smiles back and also squeezes my hand just as tight.

Susana ShadowsPublished 3 years ago in FuturismHow did I get into Witchcraft?
So now that you know a little bit about me and we’ve gone over some witchcraft basics, you may be wondering: how did I get into witchcraft?
Let's Talk Astrology
This one is for my baby witches… Astrology is one of the basics of witchcraft and fortune telling and there are people called Astrologers who focus their life on learning astrology. There are also celestial witches who use astrology to strengthen their magick but what is astrology?
Let's Talk Tarot
Tarot is one of the most used forms of divination because it is a very accessible way to learn how to be psychic. Because of the growing New Age movement tarot cards are sold at most bookstores and there are so many different ones online. But what is tarot? By definition tarot is, “playing cards, traditionally a pack of 78 with five suits, used for fortune-telling and (especially in Europe) in certain games. The suits are typically swords, cups, coins (or pentacles), batons (or wands).” Also before I proceed further, something that I didn’t know when I first learned tarot was how to pronounce it. Just so you know it rhymes with sparrow, not carrot.
How to Ritual
So you have gone through the awakening or maybe witchcraft has just peaked your interest and you want to try your first ritual. Even if you’re just doing it for fun (it should be fun) there are a few things that I would suggest you do.
It's Not Just a Phase!
The moon is a widely used symbol in witchcraft and many witches love to involve the moon in their magick by doing their spells by the moon phases! Every moon phase affects the energy of that night and you can even look at the astrological sign that the moon is in to get even more in depth. The moon has the ability to change the tides of the ocean so why wouldn’t it affect us too?
What is a Spirit Guide?
When you begin researching witchcraft or the paranormal, you will often find articles mentioning spirit guides. Before I stumbled onto witch youtube I had seen the word but never really knew what they were. The best way to think about them (especially if you are monotheistic) is like ancestors and guardian angels. It’s like when people say your passed relatives are watching over you.
The History of Witchcraft
Witchcraft has a very long history that shaped many of the traditions that we have today. Because modern day witchcraft came from ancient paganism, many of the mainstream holidays like Christmas came from witchcraft. Also, many religious stories that are part of the main world religion are based on pagan ideas. So even if you do not identify as a with I suggest you read this because you will probably learn something.
