AFTERWARD
It was a quiet late afternoon in autumn when the two young women came up the dirt road, their worn boots dragging in the dust, their sore feet limping at every step. Both wore ragged military uniforms. One bore a dirty bandage wrapped around her eyes. The other young woman kept a gentle hold on the arm of the bandaged woman; she was clearly guiding her bandaged companion up the road. The house, with its clapboard porch, and hand-operated front yard water pipe, could be distinguished from the other New England homes in its area only in that the others were visibly abandoned.

The sunlight refracted off of the water bag and sent little sparkles dancing across the forest floor as Angela hung a camping shower from a maple tree. She was a few miles outside of Portland, Oregon. She glanced around to make sure she was alone, before stripping out of her army green tactical jacket, t-shirt, and shimmying out of her jeans.. She hung her clothing on a nearby branch along with the only jewelry she owned, a small heart shaped locket. It had been a gift from her grandmother on her 18th birthday. Crafted of sterling silver and set with an aquamarine in the center, it held a picture of her grandparents on their wedding day. Becoming the recipient of this prized family heirloom had made her the envy of her sisters. Angela figured Grandma had chosen her to have it because they shared the same birthday - March 21st, the Spring Equinox - and therefore the aquamarine was both of their birthstones.

Photo by Gage Skidmore Star Trek : The Next Generation never really mapped out the planned denouement like its original predecessor. Still, the Next Gen was able to hit the spot on multiple occasions, and here’s a few of my favorites.

My name is Jen, Genevieve for short, but it is hard to pronounce for a lot of Americans, so everyone just calls me Jen. The year is 2030, and the world has been permanently changed due to the electrovirus crisis of 2020. I was still a child when it happened. I was supposed to continue my college, but due to my father losing his job and my mother’s income not being enough to support our family, my college fund was used to support our family. My father was a head chef in a restaurant. At first the government told us that we would be allowed to reopen our restaurant after just two weeks. They told us that it was meant to “protect the medical system from collapsing” so we believed it and closed our restaurant to takeout only, for the “greater good”. Little did I know that we would lose our family home and be moved to a subsidized housing in the projects, and that I would have to get a retail job to save money for college and contribute to the family.

Speaking of scientists, I believe that many people first think of Einstein and Newton, and some people think of photos of Solvay's fifth meeting, a group photo of the most powerful brains in the 20th century.

"So, have you thought of a name yet?" The nurse glanced at the mother as she clipped the collar around the neck of the baby.
Mark FarleyPublished 3 years ago in FuturismThe Alien's
The Alien's First church experience Legendary rock and roll star Kurt Cobain once remarked, “The outside world is pretty foreign to me.” I feel the same. Just to be clear I am by no means a fan of the heavy metal music genre. I much prefer the mellowness and steady tempo of rhythm and blues. However, for some reason I have always been drawn to Kurt Cobain's energy. After reading his biography last week I finally innerstand why I found him so intriguing. From the time I was born I have felt like a fish out of water. I compare my birth to being yanked from the warmth and familiarity of my mother's womb then abruptly tossed onto the cold, hard pavement called Life. From there I have been on my own trying to innerstand myself and innerstand the innerworkings of the world at the same time.

Orion may be the first constellation that many friends know, because its position in the winter night sky is much more obvious than that of the Big Dipper, and you can see its existence when you look up!
Jomarah HendersonPublished 3 years ago in FuturismThe 10 Best Characters Introduced During The Prequels
The Star Wars prequels introduced viewers to a fair amount of new characters while bringing back familiar ones. Everyone is bound to have different favorites. For this top ten list, I am staying within the bounds of characters introduced within the prequel trilogy films themselves. (It makes things easier for me.) That being said, how the characters are utilized in other materials will also be a contributing factor to their inclusion and ranking. Without further delay, here are my top ten best characters introduced during the prequels.
