I pulled the drive out of the Hasselblad gingerly, still fuming. Liam had refused to take it back so now I was stuck with it. Sliding the small drive into my laptop, I pulled up the images.
“Oh wow, these are beautiful Dusty!” Melissa said eagerly, peering over my shoulder, “I can’t believe you got so close!”
“Liam treated them almost like pets,” I said, scrolling through them slowly. The guys had left soon after the photoshoot, I’ll be back later, Liam had left with them giving me a hug and a swift kiss before Micah drug them both away crowing about a bar.
“Pets?” she repeated giving me a puzzled frown, “Wow, what can he not do I wonder.” she sank back on her bed watching me.
“Not much that I’ve been made aware of,” I mumbled, “Oh hey careful with that!” I quickly grabbed the camera from her. She was rolling it around in her hands inspecting it.
“Somebody is touchy,” leaning her head on my shoulder she gazed at the screen as the pictures scrolled by, “Oh that one has blue eyes!” she pointed at the screen gleefully.
“I’m not touchy, this is a forty-thousand-dollar Hasselblad.” I growled and her jaw dropped in shock, “Yeah, he’s the only one I’ve ever seen with blue eyes, it was insane.”
“Forty thousand dollars? For a camera?” she repeated in a shaky voice, “My god Dusty, he’s serious about you isn’t he?” she turned a sickly white.
“I tried to give it back and he wouldn’t take it.” I pouted as she jumped up and strode across to my dresser. Throwing open the top drawer she grabbed an armload of the designer clothes and tossed them on my bed.
“Girl look at this!” she said, grabbing more and tossing them on my bed, “He bought you brand new clothes before you two were even official.”
“His mom owns Beau,” I grumbled, “So technically they weren’t bought, they were free. I did the photoshoot for her to try to pay her back for them.”
“Dusty Rae Rivers,” her sharp voice brought me around. I gazed up at her angry expression, “Kurtis complained about buying me lunch, even if it was just something small.” her eyes teared up and she sniffed hard holding the tears back, “Just guard your heart, okay? He obviously cares about you and I’m really happy for you.” she bit her lip.
My phone buzzed and I looked down at it. Hey love Micah wants you to come celebrate with us so I’ll be there in a minute to pick you up. He also says bring your pretty roommate. I’ll be in Micah’s car, it’s the only one with a backseat. See you soon.
“Well, it looks like it’s your night to cheer up.” I said standing up and going through the pile of clothes she had tossed on my bed, “Here we’re about the same size, right?” she gaped at me confused as I tossed her a black single strap club top and some artfully ripped skin tight jeans.
“Wait what’s going on?” she said holding the clothes reverently in her hands, “Where are we going?”
“Micah wants us to come to the bar, yes you too,” I said and her face lit up in excitement, pulling another outfit out I ducked into the bathroom smiling as I heard her excited squeal on the other side of the door.
When I came back out, she streaked past me into the bathroom, the outfit fit her snugly hugging her generous curves, “When are they coming? You take too long!” I heard her scrabbling across the shelves for her brush.
“Liam is coming to get us,” I called back, grabbing my phone as I sat down calmly waiting on her, “Just don’t overdo it okay?” I called and heard her drop something in the sink.
My phone buzzed again and I glanced at it, Outside waiting love, are you girls getting ready for the catwalk or something? This is a night out at the bar! ;)
I laughed and shot a quick text back, be right out, I think Melissa is having a heart attack. You guys are too much for her lol :P
“How do I look? Is it too much?” She had settled on a fresh natural look leaving her flaming hair down in a wild curly cascade over her shoulders, her big brown eyes accented only at the corners with a hint of liner.
“Perfect, now let’s go.” I laughed grabbing her arm, she hooked her feet through a pair of sandals as I pulled her out the door, “Liam is already waiting.” I heard her hyperventilating behind me and slowed down, “Look, Micah is a flirt but he’s actually a pretty decent person. Don’t think of him as a model, just treat him normal. He doesn't like fawning fangirls.”
“Okay,” she simpered, her iron grasp on my arm belied her firm words, “Oh my god is that Liam’s car?” She stopped dead when she saw the beautiful yellow racing machine idling by the curb.
“Oh no, that’s Micah’s car,” I said tugging her along, “It’s the only one with a backseat.” her jaw dropped and I gave her an apologetic grin as Liam stepped around the car and opened the passenger door.
“Hello again gorgeous,” Liam pulled me against him as Melissa climbed into the back seat and pulled the seat back.
I gave him a sly look, “Why does Micah want Melissa there? He’s not planning anything is he?”
“No actually I think he likes her,” he said, ushering me into the car and closing the door, “Believe you me, I was shocked too.” he said when he had climbed into the driver’s seat, “Buckle up, I drive fast.” shooting us a wicked grin he floored the accelerator.
My stomach lurched as I clutched the seat, “You’re going to get us in trouble!” I yelped glaring at him as the car peeled away from the curb.
“You have two days of classes left, Dusty,” he grinned dangerously and shifted gears as he slid out of the parking lot. Slowing down he rolled his eyes at me, “You are such a nervous person, I did that all the time when I was attending class here. Micah does it too almost every day. Nobody ever says a word to him.”
I heard Melissa groan from the backseat, “Hey guys, I don’t know about you two but I feel like a fly in a bottle back here.” she weaved drunkenly on the seat looking nauseous.
“Look you made Missy sick,” I raised a brow at him and he peered in the rearview mirror at her cautiously, “She never gets car sick.”
“Sorry Melissa,” he said soberly and immediately slowed the car to a bearable speed, merging smoothly with traffic.
“Michael Schumacher, you weren’t kidding,” she said shakily and leaned her head against the small side window, cooling her face.
Liam gave us both a puzzled look but continued the ride in silence, weaving through the traffic carefully.
“Hey, it's the reporter again!” I heard Micah over the music, he jumped up from his stool as soon as we came through the door into the pulsing bar. Dodging across the knot of dancing bodies he came up to us grinning boyishly, “Sorry did you have plans news lady?” he laughed and she shook her head quickly.
I watched him tug her across the floor with a frown, “You realize if he hurts her, he’s toast right?” I turned a serious glower to Liam and he laughed.
“Micah is many things, but a jerk to women? He can’t do it, in fact, the only woman I’ve ever seen him snub is Victoria.” he smiled gently as he wove through the dance floor following them to the bar, “He does have flings every now and then, but he never deliberately hurts them. They usually leave on their own because of his job.”
Darren was sitting at the bar sipping a glass of what looked like bourbon, “Want a drink?” he said loudly, nodding at the cup.
“I don’t drink that stuff!” I answered just as loud, he laughed and leaned across the bar waving for the bartender. I watched him lean across the bar and say something to her. She smiled and ducked under the bar coming up with drink mixers and a few different bottles.
She skillfully added a little of each bottle to the cans and poured a dark blue liquid into them. Immediately the smell of coconut and some other tropical fruit washed over me. What is she doing? I frowned as she tossed them into the air shaking them and poured the mixture over two cups of ice, she slid them down the counter in front of me and Melissa.
“Ooh sex on the beach!” Melissa crowed and scooped up the tumbler happily, “My favorite! Go ahead, try it Dusty.” she smiled at my reluctance, I faintly felt Liam laughing against my shoulder, “Don’t worry there’s hardly enough alcohol in them to make you drunk, I mean as long as you don’t drink like eight of them you should be fine.”
“I don’t drink anymore!” I said glaring at her and pursing my lips, she frowned at me giving me her signature guilty card look.
“See? I told you, you never want to do anything with me anymore,” she said and I immediately scowled. Liam laughed aloud moving around beside me as I picked up the tumbler and grudgingly took a sip. I fell in love with the smooth tropical blend almost immediately, she was right I couldn’t even taste the hint of alcohol in it.
“She can talk you into anything can’t she?” Liam grinned at me as she whooped and threw her arms around my neck.
“There’s the girl I remember!” she said excitedly, Micah swooped up behind her and tugged her away towards the dance floor.
“Come on news lady, this is one of my favorite songs!” he said happily, she blushed prettily as he pulled her against him.
“Well, that’s the last we’re going to see of her all night,” I said, sipping at the cocktail and glancing around at Liam.
He smiled and tugged the glass out of my hand, setting it on the bar, “You’re dancing too.” he said mischievously and pulled me after them.
“I thought we already went over this!” I said panicking as he wrapped his arms around me, “I can’t dance, Liam!” The dance music pulsed around us.
“Just move, feel the rhythm.” he whispered in my ear, hesitantly I started moving mechanically to the beat, “Oh you need a teacher, don’t you?” his voice was silky in my ear and I shuddered. Pulling me firmly against him he moved me across the floor.
I glanced around blushing even darker than Melissa at his intimate display, Darren was perched on his stool watching us, he was laughing so hard at my dancing I thought he was going to fall off. A woman approached him nervously and he turned to her as she said something. With a sexy grin, he slid off the stool and followed her onto the floor.
I collapsed into my stool wheezing, “God I’m wiped out!” I glared at Liam; he hadn’t even broken a sweat. It seemed like we had been on the floor for at least an hour. Melissa was already at the bar sipping on an apple martini.
“He’s so amazing!” she gushed over Micah, Liam grinned and moved away to join his brothers farther down the bar, “He’s sweet and he’s fun and I can’t even believe it!” she fell silent sipping her drink again, an excited gleam in her eyes.
“Well, I’d say you’re definitely cheered up,” I smiled as the bartender slid another one of the smooth blue cocktails down the bar to me.
“I’m more than cheered up,” she said, giving me a wicked grin, “I think Micah is my new favorite.”
I raised a brow quizzically at her, “You’re not going fangirl on him, are you?” I said sternly, “I mean it, he really is just a normal guy. Treat him like one and he’ll probably stick around.”
“He makes me feel special and he pays attention to me,” she said, swirling her drink with a straw, “He’s so different from Kurtis it’s crazy,” I frowned when she said his name, “He asked me out I’m so excited!” she squealed, changing the subject abruptly.
My jaw dropped, damn he moves fast! “But you just broke up with Kurtis today!” I said gaping at her, “Please tell me you didn’t say yes!”
“Of course, I did.” She said quizzically, looking at me like I was insane, “He’s amazing, I think he’s worth a shot.” she shot an adoring look at him down the bar, “He is insanely hot, but that’s just a bonus.”
I sighed and rubbed my neck glaring at him, he grinned and winked at me, “What happened to be careful?” I growled and scowled at her, “Micah is a flirt, I swear to god if he hurts you, I’m going to kill him.”
“Calm down dust bunny,” she drained her glass and set it down hard on the bar, “I know what I’m doing, I’ll be careful I promise.” standing up she slid down the bar and sat in his lap, wrapping her arms around his neck.
Taking a deep breath, I drained my own glass and followed her down the bar. Well, you only live once! Feeling a little braver with the vodka in me, I took a page out of her book and curled up in Liam’s lap and he glanced at me shocked as I wrapped my arms around his neck.
“I should buy you a drink more often,” he murmured in my ear and wrapped his arms around my waist, a shiver of excitement raced across my skin as he stroked my sides.
“Okay, I’m going home,” Darren stood up looking at us with an amused chuckle, I suddenly felt bad for him. He’s still alone, frowning. I watched as he gave his brothers a clap on the shoulder and left the bar.
“I think we’ll be going soon too,” Micah said not taking his eyes off of Melissa, she blushed prettily at his heated gaze.
“Guess we might as well all go,” Liam laughed as I cringed inwardly, ``I know what she’s doing tonight! I yelped as Liam swept his arm under me and stood up, panicking. I clung to his shoulders as I teetered on his arm.
“No, put me down!” I squeaked as the floor wavered dangerously beneath me, Maybe I drank too much! He chuckled and set me gently on my feet.
“I know why you don’t drink now,” he said, wrapping a steadying arm around my waist and leading me out the door. I glared up at his amused grin.
“What is that supposed to mean?” I snapped scowling at him, I crossed my arms over my chest and stopped at the door.
“Lightweight!” Melissa chirped as Micah swept her past us out the door, I turned my scowl to them as he carried her down the sidewalk toward his car.
“Come on Dusty,” Liam tugged my arm, pulling me toward his car, “It’s nothing to be ashamed of, drinking is never easy for someone your size,” he added in a low whisper, leaning over so that his hair tickled my neck.
A giggle bubbled out of my throat and I ducked away, “Knock it off that tickles!” Oh my god, I sound like a tipsy bar hop! I clapped my hand over my mouth and looked up at him wide-eyed as he burst out laughing.
“Come on, you need a shower.” he looped an arm around my shoulder, I swayed, shaking my head trying to clear it.
“I do not,” he snorted at my offended look, “I’m perfectly fine!” I turned away and marched down the sidewalk toward his car, “Just take me back, all I need is some food!” his arm hooked around my waist when I stumbled over the edge of the curb and he firmly steered me to the car.
“Sit before you hurt yourself,” he said firmly, buckling me in and crossing to get into the other side.
It was dark when we made it to the flat, Liam led me patiently down the hallway. I jumped when something slammed into the floor above us, a peal of laughter and a squeal followed. Oh my god! I flushed crimson when I realized who it was.
“Looks like they’re already home,” Liam gazed up at the ceiling with a grin and turned to me, “Come on, ignore them, you still need a shower.” ignoring my mumbled protest he tugged me up the stairs.
Turning he pulled me through a set of french doors and I looked around stunned at the bathroom, there was a floor-to-ceiling stone shower surrounded by glass. A huge whirlpool tub dominated one of the corners looking like it could easily fit four people in it.
“This is huge!” I said and turned to him; he was standing there looking at me with an amused smile on his face.
“You act like you’ve never been in a bathroom before.” he chuckled and wrapped his arms around my waist burying his nose in my hair.
“Well not one like this,” I blushed as he grasped the hem of my shirt and pulled it over my head dropping it on the floor, “Wait, what are you doing now?” a shard of clarity spiked through my head as he popped the button on my jeans and smiled.
“I’m giving you a shower so you won’t have a hangover tomorrow.” he said laughing as my jeans pooled on the floor, “You’ll want a clear head for my final, I promise.” I blanched and scrambled backward.
“I’m not that drunk!” I protested, but he stepped forward again and pulled me into his arms.
“Where do you think you’re going?” he murmured, I bit my lip as one of his hands raced up my back and unsnapped my bra.
“Liam!” I was breathless when he pulled it off and dropped it on the floor, my arms crossed over my chest and I flushed.
“What are you hiding for?” his sharp eyes narrowed as he pulled his own shirt off and tossed it on top of mine on the floor, reaching out he gently tugged my arms away from my chest and wound his fingers through mine, holding my arms away from my body, “I told you, you’re beautiful, so don’t hide from me.” leaning down he pressed a soft kiss in the hollow of my throat and my heart lurched drunkenly.
Releasing my fingers, he walked over to the shower and leaned in turning the water on. I looked away when he came back and stepped out of his jeans. Does he ever wear anything under his jeans? I thought frantically and squeezed my eyes shut.
“You act like you haven’t seen this before,” he joked and hooked his finger through the band of my panties pulling me to him, “I don’t think you’ll be needing these anymore tonight.” kneeling in front of me he slowly pulled them down and dropped them on the other clothes.
A swift knot of heat coiled in my stomach as he backed toward the steaming shower and tugged me inside. I gasped when the hot water hit my skin and he ran his fingers through my hair keeping me under the stream.
“Jesus it’s so hot!” I said as his hands ran down my shoulders and down to my hips, he grinned and pulled me against him.
“No, you’re just cold. I can fix that for you.” ducking down he kissed me, tugging at my bottom lip until I opened my mouth. I wavered as he cradled my face in his hands and slowly slid them down my neck and across my shoulders, following a line with the edge of his nails down the back of my arms as he backed me into the smooth stone wall. Reaching my wrists, he slowly brought them up above my head and grasped them easily with one hand.
“Still cold?” he said, a small smile curling his lips as I shook my head frantically. Sliding his other hand down my side he gripped my hip and pulled me forward, arching my back off the wall.
I gasped feeling exposed as he seized one of my breasts in his mouth, nipping lightly at the tender skin he pulled my nipple between his lips making my muscles clench deliciously way down low as it pebbled under his hot mouth. Moving across to the other one he repeated the process. I squirmed in his arms restlessly, a prickling heat spreading swiftly under my skin.
Releasing my wrists, he scooped me up suddenly, hooking my legs around his waist. I flinched at the hard contact, knotting my fingers behind his neck.
“Liam!” I gasped, nearly jumping out of his arms at the contact, “Put me down! It’s wet, what if we fa…” he shook his head and held me still, silencing my lips in a fierce kiss.
Supporting me firmly with one hand, he slid the other around between us and dipped down low. I clenched my teeth to keep from moaning as he pushed up with the pad of his thumb circling as another finger dipped inside of me. I almost came undone when he curled his finger, beckoning inside of me.
“So perfect,” he murmured against my lips, I closed my eyes against the heady onslaught. I could feel the release already, I was teetering on the edge.
“This isn’t a shower,” I gasped accusingly, clutching his shoulders as he kissed my jaw, searing trails across my skin with his teeth.
“Later,” he said with a wry smile, I felt him push a second finger inside of me and I arched back against the wall. Talk about taking advantage of a drunk girl! I couldn’t stop the bubble of laughter that escaped, he shot an amused look at me, “You’re laughing?”
I grinned and then cried out as he suddenly curled both fingers forward inside of me, I fell off the edge immediately, catapulting into a void. “It’s just,” I gasped as the spasms shook me, “I just realized, you’re totally taking advantage of a drunk girl.” I closed my eyes, breathing hard, trying desperately to smile.
“My beautiful drunk girl,” he slid both hands up my back burying his hands in my hair, as he gently set me on my feet. Sliding me smoothly down his body, the water made every curve as slick as oil. I shuddered delicately as he turned me and pulled me back against him.
“We need to fix that.” he said grinning wickedly as he stroked my cheek with his thumb, “You come way too fast.”
I scowled at him, “This is what? The second time?” I glanced away blushing, “I’m not as seasoned as you are.” I growled.
Pouring body wash in his hand, he reached around me sliding the lather across my skin softly. “Actually, it's the third.” he laughed as I moved restlessly under his hands.
“It’s not like I can make myself last longer,” I closed my eyes, losing myself to the skillful touch of his hands. “I’m new at this, I’m sorry if I disappoint you.”
“Oh, I’m so far from disappointed,” he murmured, sliding his hands down my arm. I flinched when he grasped my wrist, drawing my hand up over my head and settling it around his neck. “I wouldn’t have you any other way.” he tapped my chin when I tilted my head back up to look at him. “How are you feeling now, drunk girl?” I grimaced.
“I told you I wasn’t that drunk,” I said petulantly, well you’re not anymore dumbass, maybe next time you’ll remember what alcohol does to people! My subconscious snapped at me.
He shot an impish grin at me and I frowned, blushing hotly, “Come on, at least you’re sober now.” he chuckled and held me under the stream, rinsing the thick lather off of my skin.
“Thank you,” I mumbled, brushing the water out of my eyes and gazing up at him balefully, “I’m sorry.” he shut off the water giving me a puzzled look.
“For what?” stepping out of the shower he tossed me a towel, “Being normal? Drinking a little too much? Don’t worry about it love, you’re only human. I’m not mad at you about it.”
I quickly wrung some of the water out of my hair and wrapped myself in the towel, “I don’t get drunk and act like this,” I said quietly, frowning at him as I started gathering up my clothes.
“You’re not putting those back on are you?” he frowned, ignoring my remark as he wrapped the towel around his waist, he strode to the door, “Come on, you have clothes in my room remember?”
“Are you insane?” I hissed clutching the towel to my chest, “both of your brothers are here, there’s no telling where they are, not to mention Melissa is here too! I am not walking through your house in a towel!” crossing my arms over my chest I scowled at him.
“Exactly, Melissa is here which means Micah is in his room.” he grinned, “Darren, he’s probably in the den watching a movie.” he grabbed my arm, “Come on we’ll be fine, just hurry up.”
I stumbled after him as he pulled me through the dark hallway, I can’t believe him! My nerves jumped shakily. Thankfully we made it to his room without incident. He pulled me inside and shut the door, turning the lock.
“I put all of your clothes in that closet,” he gestured at a set of dark oak doors I hadn’t noticed before and stepped across to the dresser.
I quickly made my way inside and gasped, What the hell, this isn’t some, it’s a whole different wardrobe! Both sides of the closet were lined with even more clothes than were at the dorm. Drying off I swiftly picked out a set of comfortable sleepwear and ambled back out of the closet, “So when were you planning on telling me that you moved me in?” I scowled at him and he looked around at me innocently. He was still shirtless wearing a pair of sweats, his still damp hair in sexy disarray.
“Well, you are graduating, I figured you could stay here until you find an apartment.” he grinned and I put my hands on my hips.
“Did you ever think about asking me?” tapping my foot impatiently I sat on the edge of his bed frowning, “I don’t know, this feels like too much.” Coming across the room he sat down beside me and shook his hair, scattering drops of water across me. “Hey knock it off!” I lurched backward away from the attack and he followed me. Seizing me, he grinned leaning over me.
A few drops of water dripped on me and I yelped, “Don’t argue with me, you’re staying here,” he grinned mischievously, I squirmed trying to get away.
“No stop, I just got dry!” wrenching free I rolled off the bed away from him, he gazed up at me and I knew I was in trouble.
“Oh, really now?” he stood up and stalked around the bed, I giggled as he lunged toward me. Dodging, I climbed over the bed swiftly and watched him cautiously. He’s like a little kid! I smiled, seeing the predatory light in his eyes. He came across the bed and feinted left, hooking an arm around my waist when I tried to dodge around him again. We collapsed on the edge of the bed in a laughing heap
“Is this how you deal with all of your problems?” I said when I finally caught my breath, “Sex and games?”
He chuckled and let me go, “Not usually,” rolling to his feet he reached down and pulled me up. I flushed as my stomach grumbled, clapping my hands over it I glanced up at him. He burst into laughter, “You’re always hungry aren’t you?” I frowned and shuffled my feet.
“You make me hungry,” I said quietly avoiding his gaze, looking up I saw that he had a warm smile on his face.
“Well in that case please,” he wove his fingers through mine, “Let me feed you at least.” without waiting for an answer he unlocked the door and pulled me out into the hallway.
