The ties that bind...

She had bumped into him on accident. Going to pick up food at Applebees, she had run into her best friend, drunk in the bar. Of course she insisted he not drive, and while she tried to get it into his thick skull, a blow intended for him, hit her. Dazed she had planted him on his ass, just by knocking his feet out from under him.

She had taken bestie's keys and walked out with her food. As she struggled to assess the damage, he appeared. Tall and beautiful... another layer of stunned hit her. Why would he talk to her? He with the most gentle touch, tilted her face up to get a better look. This amazing man, who looked like he could move mountains took her hand and lead her to the back of his truck. He mumbled something about getting his go bag and sat her down. She felt the herself blush, along with the heat of embarrassment for thinking how cute he was. He looked her over and asked if she needed a ride home. Of course she didn't, her car was right there. She babbled something about her food. He asked if she wanted to have dinner with him so he could make sure she was okay. They sat in the back of his truck for hours, talking about his job as a firefighter and hers in law enforcement. Hours upon hours later, he followed her home to make sure she got there okay.

As much as the eye hurt, and looked worse, she couldn't help but smile. The next day, she brought him dinner at the station..by the end of the week they were inseparable.

What started off as an accidental meeting..lead to places they neither imagined. After shift he would come over, and the first thing he always asked was if she had eaten, which she never had because it had slipped her mind in-between emergencies at work. He always knew the answer before she answered. She would try to offer to cook, but she was always hoping he would. It was a little game they played. Then they would cuddle up on the couch and watch something...his hands would always fall to her hair .. delicately he would play with what was left of the curls she had curled that morning... her eyes would flutter as the world just slipped away. Hours would go by as he traced his fingers around his St. Florian medal she wore around her neck. Not an expensive thing but it was hers, from Him. It was made out of rose gold, he told her because it was delicate like her. She never thought of taking it off..and had it until the ex had taken it a few years ago like everything else. She had kept it when she left, not him but to have a life that she made herself. He would never know when she missed him and was alone all those years later she would slip it on and remember those moments with him.

They had been so entwined with each other, that there was no one else in the world. No man existed before him. His touch could wash away anything work had brought on, he was her addiction and she his. The entire world ceased to exist anymore when they were together. He simply was her world, her sun, her moon and stars and she his.

He fiercely protected her, not from the world, because she was always in charge of her professional world, but he couldn't bear to even see a tear fall from her eyes. He simply couldn't stand to see her hurt in any way. He was not jealous because he knew she adored him, but even looking at her wrong would send him into an out of character rage.

She looked at him like he was Hercules. He was the ruler of her world. His soft brown eyes swirled with desire, and his touch burned into her flesh marks that imprinted him on her. He could get her to fall to her knees with merely a look that held every thing he ever wanted to do to her. His skin against hers was the like a soothing peace enveloping her..as he held her tucked in his arms at night..

Some nights were filled with hours of him gently caressing her body in a dream world of ecstasy, slowly touching every piece of her soul and others were filled with wax dripping down her skin in patterns. He simply was everything in her life.

As fiercely as he loved her never did she want for anything, never was she alone..he was Adonis. His kisses tasted like ambrosia and nectar, his scent of sandalwood lingered with his favorite perfume for her...he simply required nothing of her but her heart. That he was freely given and was worshiped as a King for it.

They simply were always bound together from the moment he placed her collar around her neck. He would trace the lines of her body for hours as if he was blind and trying to memorize them, etching with his fingers swirls of promises.

She would fall asleep in his Marine Corp t-shirt or his department t-shirt, only to have him admire the way it fell off her shoulder. His mouth spoke very few words but when it was on her skin it spoke volumes. Sighs of contentment would barely escape her lips before another would start.

The nights without him were painful, her body craving the love drunk chemicals he could make flow through my veins with the brush of his skin. The only place she ever craved to be was in his arms. Time stood still, it ceased to matter. There was no world that didn't spin around him. It was so easy to be with him. All of her relationships had been easy. She never had any problem with friends or lovers, until a few years ago when one jealous man entered her entire world. He was the only man who had never gotten what he wanted from her, and even having taken everything would never be someone she loved..He never had been.

Her firefighter, the one she had known after she had decided to move had wanted her to marry him, had bought her a fire opal even the guys trying to get her to stay. Even Chief had been upset when she left, she was the unofficial daughter, sister, glue of the Battalion. Had they tried she would have stayed, despite the other two men trying her to lure her away..she should should have stayed.

She had seen him in other men..that need to be needed as she had to be wanted. That feeling she longed for. Without someone to lead her through the fire of this nightmare she was lost. She needed a safe place like his arms had been a haven. Wrapped around her, protecting her from anything that could ever hurt her. The way there was always a safe place in his arms after any day. She wanted that again. She needed that again. It unspun her world and simply made there be something worth chasing. She needed to be adored the way she adored Him when there was one, without one she simply was not fully herself...and she needed the high only subspace could give her. It was drug more potent than venom, more seductive than anything..
