I met Ally Sparkles at Exxxotica 2018, and the first thing I noticed about her were her strikingly pretty eyes. Behind them, you could just tell that she had a brilliant mind inside of her—which is exactly why I approached her for an interview.

As a transperson myself, I really have a lot of respect for transfolk who make a point of flaunting their sexuality in the adult film industry. It's one of the most daring ways to raise awareness and help remove the stigma regarding transexuality.

Ally Sparkles didn't disappoint. She's the type of person who makes you fall in love with both her mind and body. As one of the newest rising stars in the transgirl world, Ally Sparkles has done great work so far in the scene.

Her interview is one of the most interesting I've done, and when you see what she has to say about life as a porn star, you'll understand why...

So, tell me a little bit about your adult film career. How'd you get started? What sparked your interest in adult films?

I've been making porn ever since I had tits, which was maybe around three months into hormones, or around March 2017, I was 20. I would post on the /r/traps subreddit and people really seemed to love my work. When I got to college, I hooked up with a cute athlete fairly often, and one time I handed him my DSLR camera and we took some pics in my dorm room.

They're still on Reddit. I took those photos, and based on the suggestions from lots of comments I was getting, I sent them to Steven Grooby. He set up a shoot for me in Vegas right around my one year anniversary of hormones, Jan 6, 2018.

Porn isn't something that any pretty girl would want to get into, I think my experiences as an adolescent really catered towards the ideas. I feel that Bailey Jay had a huge influence on not just my opinion about being in porn, but transitioning as well.

Seeing Bailey be so beautiful was one thing, but I think it really hit me when I started to listen to her podcast, as well as Sugar and Spice/Third Gender Radio. Listening to her talk about everything so openly made me view her as really healthy, happy, and in a really good relationship; essentially otherwise normal besides the fact that she's trans. It's inspiring; helped me realize that transitioning is viable. I want my work to help portray the same message.

That's why I'm working to start a YouTube channel, even though I haven't posted anything yet. I need a direct way to talk about myself and why I'm in porn and what it all means to me, and to create something enjoyable and entertaining while I'm at it.

Did you have a hard time getting into the industry? Did you find the stigma to be difficult to deal with?

Getting into it, like objectively wasn't hard. Companies want to work with me. The stigma, however, is honestly kind of similar to how people stigmatize trans people.

The only issues I've had with it are with one friend who thinks it misrepresents the LGBT community (they didn't understand why I do it, I'm assuming they view it as a means of survival, while it's quite the contrary, I make more money with my other job), and also my family really hates the idea.

I'm kind of scared to go to family reunions these days. I've just been avoiding it.

What's been your favorite scene to shoot so far?

There's a few ways to answer this question. In terms of the sex, I'd say with Black P.I.P.E in Ally Fucks her RA, available on my ManyVids, but in terms of aesthetic it is undoubtedly Ally Sparkles & Camila Dolly, Filmed by Radius Dark for Tgirls.porn. It was so good it made its way to DVDs.

Who are your favorite performers to work with?

This is so hard to answer definitively. In terms of chicks, I'd probably have to say Janelle Fennec and Alli Black. I love super feminine models, or cis women. In terms of men, Mike Panic was super easy to work with, and so sweet.

Do you have any particular scenes you can't wait to do? Tell me about them.

I can't say who or when but I am really looking forward to a TS on female scene with femdom. I really wanna get pegged and dominated by a cis woman on film.

Let's talk about the Ally outside of the adult film world. What kind of things do you like to do when you're not shooting?

I'm a geeky college student. I'm a Computer Science major at the University of Colorado Boulder, I don't have loads of friends but I get by. Porn star life and home life are like black and white. I don't party, it's just not my style, I'm sober. I work as a professional web designer.

I can make like twice as much in a day of working as a designer than I can make on a trip to a porn shoot. I don't do porn for the money, and rarely do I find myself really finding the satisfaction that I would like sexually from porn, really I just wanna be famous and spread my message.

I love making pretty things with Javascript (three.js, two.js, paper.js, vue, etc) There's not much that I can show of this without identifying myself, but I will say I am heavily inspired by geometry and fractals. I can't pass calculus but I know way too much linear algebra and complex dynamics.

I also recently have gotten into making music. I want to make the sound of the future, but I'm learning and just going with the flow and seeing where that leads me, so every song I make has been a different genre so far.

I think I see a music festival in one of your pics. Tell me what's your favorite festival, who your favorite artist is, and what your favorite genre of electronic music is. (I'm a fan of hardstyle and happy hardcore, myself!)

Burning Man! Fuck the consumerist trashy bullshit that is music festivals. Burning Man helped shape who I am, helped me give zero fucks of what other people think of me. I like it in opposition to music festivals (it's not a music festival) because people pick up after themselves, there's no currency involved at the event, and if you want something to happen, you make it happen. Check out the 10 Principles of Burning Man for more information, and there's lots of regional events all over the world; going to the big burn in the Black Rock Desert is really expensive, but the experience can be found fairly close to anyone.

In terms of music, my all time favorite artist is without a question Daft Punk. If you were to ask me what my favorite genre of electronic music is a year ago, I'd probably say french house. But recently I've really come to love trap music (TroyBoi is the shit), lo-fi hip hop (SwUm is also the shit), and vaporwave (as well as the derivatives from this genre).

Tell me your favorite makeup tip. Is there any product you swear by?

Use complimentary colors to cancel out colors you don't want.. with makeup this applies with bruises, or bags under my eyes. Just a bit of yellow highlighter then a bit of powder on top is all it takes.

Quick! Give me your favorite movie, book, and song.

Pulp Fiction! To Be A Machine by Mark O'Connell! And "Flamingo" by Kero Kero Bonito!

Is there anyone in the adult film industry that you look up to? Tell me about them.

I guess I touched up on this a bit on why I'm in porn, but Bailey Jay! She's so independent compared to everyone else in the industry, helped me realize that transitioning was viable, just a really well-rounded, inspiring person.

Did you ever have a hard time telling someone what you do?

All the time! I get so reluctant to explain things to people as it's not very modest, and can make me seem kind of narcissistic if I just explain on a heartbeat, but as long as it's not related to my other job, or around my family, I'm generally happy that I explained, with the right amount of conversation leading up to it.

What tips do you have for someone who wants to join the adult film industry?

Work with Grooby and go from there. Get some good photos, like some real photos, not selfies! Show them that you're beautiful, yet serious and professional.

I want to say, your figure is awesome. How do you keep so slender?

It's my genes. I love Taco Bell and food in general. I wish I could gain a little bit more weight, but I'm stuck between 100 and 115. The most I've ever weighed is 117.5

Give me a heads up about something people might not realize about adult film stars. What myth would you like to bust about the industry?

I can't speak for the industry as a whole, but in terms of the transgender porn industry, it's not nearly as dangerous as it's played out to be. No one has tried to fuck me over or violate consent.

It's one thing to view it so objectively, it's too easy to have all the bad things that popular culture has taught us about it, but actually meeting the people involved and working with them, the professional producers that I have worked with are all amazing in their own ways, often hilarious, and really genuine.

Having been with the team behind the scenes at Grooby during Exxxotica in New Jersey, I honestly felt like family there, they were so nice to me.

What do you want your fans to know?

You see a pretty tgirl, but I'm so much more than that! People often tell me that I'll be rich, and as arrogant as that sounds I don't doubt it in the slightest, and that's not because of porn.

Porn is just emotionally fulfilling, it feels like something that is necessary for the trans community. As Jelena Vermilion said to VICE, I believe that the work I do is sacred.

Do you have a dating tip you'd want to share with people?

Hahahaha don't ask me. I'm romantically attracted to women and I've had such a hard time.

What's a pet peeve you have when it comes to guys trying to flirt with you?

Stop sending me dick pics, and don't fucking touch me without permission. Treat me like the human being that I am.

Tell me a sex tip you wish more people knew.

When you're sucking dick... SUCK the dick! Like a vacuum!

I haven't gotten much, but I guess this is more of a theoretical question. I need more sex toys! Magic Wand, fleshlights, dildos, the whole shebang (pun intended).

Ally Sparkles adores her fans too, and it's always great to show your favorite performers some love. Check out her site, AllySparkles.com, or just show her love by buying her awesome clips on Grooby's Girls.
