"Gryphons of the Mist" Gryph meets Skye and Killer Rabbit

Script version 3

"KaiBM Lab reports of a break-in. They say a large white rabbit with a gun is shooting people and there are hostages. He also may not be the only suspect. I think this is Killer Rabbit. We need him alive. Get to that lab and capture that rabbit!" Sikal reported on comms.

Malvagio, Gryph and Xarxazeroth were just nearing the lab. The entrance appeared to be blown away. The remains of a single human, identity unknown, lay face down, dead, just outside.

The gryphons made their way inside.

Before them stretched a fairly lengthy hallway, scattered with corpses of humans. This was clearly a human facility with a large number of human staff. The gryphons honestly had no business there, but that was where their mark was, so that was where they were.

"What happened here?" Gryph asked, seemingly unaware that no gryphon knew the answer.

"This place reeks of blood," Mal stated, passing a door, only to do a double-back, open it, and peek inside.

Big mistake.

The door crept open. The sound the hinges made was absolutely hair-raising. The dense clatter of the door hitting the wall on the other side echoed throughout the small space. It was dimly lit, and tidy at the ceiling, but as Mal's gaze lowered, his face turned noticeably green. His eyes gazed at the floor, locked in a trance he only wished he could break. He wanted so bad to look away. His stomach turned over itself.

Gryph's ears perked as he heard Mal's lunch splash onto the floor. He took a step toward Mal.

"DON'T come over here, Gryph!" Mal wiped his face with one arm, motioning the other to Gryph, signaling him to stay back.

"Seriously?"

Zero snuck up and peeked in the room. "Oh, God..." She, too, stared at the floor inside the room, but remained unphased. "That... certainly is something!"

Mal reached in and snapped the door back closed.

Gryph never got to see the room. It was probably for the best.

He really did want to see it, though. He felt left out... kind of like the reader!

Just then, following the crisp, echoing sound of the door slamming back shut, the hallway suddenly filled with the soft, grinding sound of something heavy rolling across the floor in the distance.

The trio turned to look, and spotted a solitary log slowly rolling across the floor, from left to right. Someone or something was around the corner. They still had a hardy span of tile flooring in between theirselves and the log, and whatever was around that corner, but the feeling of danger still loomed over them, as if their distance from the threat didn't matter.

A series of long, thin, green fingers gripped the corner of the wall, slipping into view from the unknown. The fingers gave rise to a full view of a long hand and even longer arm. After an eerie pause, the rest of the figure leapt into view, landing directly, perfectly, on the rolling log, which he promptly squatted down on top of, bringing the log to an immediate stop.

The figure turned slightly, as creepily as possible, and re-mounted the log, looking down the hall at the gryphons.

It was a frog.

A frog on a log.

A human-sized frogman... on a log, man!

This was definitely a frog-human hybrid, more commonly known as a frog chimera, and he was tall! The gryphons were VERY familiar with chimeras, as they themselves were chimeras.

"Heeeheee," the frog said in an impish voice. He clearly meant trouble. He wore black ninja robes, and concealed his face with a Noh mask, simple white and red design, which covered 90% of his face, leaving only his lower jaw visible.

"Is that a..." Zero started...

"...Frog?" Gryph finished.

Just then, a familiar sound of the door behind them swinging back open was heard. The sound caught the attention of all of the gryphons, but they still had trouble taking their eyes off of the frog.

A hyena-human chimera leapt out and immediately tackled Malvagio to the ground. She was obviously female, re-emphasized by the shrieking sound of her very own war cry which she coupled with her attack. She wore a ninja garb, and a Noh mask, just like her frog friend, although the wardrobe and mask design were slightly different. The hyena was formidable, easily driving Mal to the ground. She was soaked in blood, and dug her weapons, two small, curved blades, into the back of Mal's neck. Her war-shriek was terrifying. Mal panicked. Zero looked directly at Mal, but Gryph merely glanced. He had to keep watching the frog's every move, or they could be in even worse trouble than they already were.

Zero promptly went into defense mode. For the next several minutes, her primary mission was no longer to capture Killer Rabbit, but instead, to tear this hyena bitch to shreds.

"GET OFF HIM!!" Xarxazeroth tackled the hyena with her full weight, easily overpowering her and smashing her body into the wall.

*POOF!*

Every gryphon looked back at Zero, who appeared to be covered in smoke. Even Gryph grew disinterested with their current froggy adversary, and gave Zero his full attention again. He really wanted to know what just happened. In hindsight, he probably shouldn't have let his guard down, but it was too late for that, now. Wasn't it?

Zero's claws were stuck into what appeared to be a log. Her eyes widened in surprise. The hyena was no where to be found. This was not possible. Xarxazeroth had the best eyes on the planet. She had to have seen the yeen! How could she have missed it?

"This is not possible! I am Xarxazeroth!" Zero barked, being a thorough mixture of confused and frustrated. She stared intently at the log, as if nothing else in the universe mattered. She literally just attacked a piece of wood. She felt foolish, and simple, as if the entire universe was too complicated to understand. She felt defeated, and the realization numbed her ego straight to its core.

"Awwww, that's too bad~! It looks like you missed me~!" A very excited, very female voice rung out at the far end of the hall, next to the frog. "Your boyfriend tastes great, by the way~!"

Zero stared down the hall at the hyena and clenched her fist. Never has she been made this big a fool of in her entire life. It was so demoralizing!

"YOU KEEP YOUR FILTHY PAWS OFF MY BOYFRIEND OR I'LL SKIN YOU ALIVE!" Zero snapped, clearly tilted.

"Heeeheee," the impish frog chimed in, but otherwise remained still, as if he never moved. His log, however, was now missing. Peculiar...

"I'd love to see you try, bird~!"

"Just give us the rabbit!" Gryph interrupted, growing sick of hearing multiple women fight over someone other than him.

"Oh, you want the rabbit~?" The hyena paused for a moment, then motioned to Gryph. "Go get him! He's just down the hall~! I won't stop you. Never really liked the guy, anyway~"

"Heeeheee," the frog chimed in again, impish as always.

"HOWEVER~" The hyena held up a finger, offering a catch. "I'll only let one of you pass. The other 2 have to play with us~!"

"What if we just kill you?" Mal asked the most pressing question, as usual.

"You can try~! But we all saw what happened last time~!" The hyena reminded the gryphons. Her cheery demeanor was starting to get on every gryphon's nerves.

"Gryph, just go. We'll be right behind you," Mal made a half-hearted promise.

"Oh, I doubt that~!"

"Heeeheee!"

Mal and Zero ran at the hyena and frog, but the hyena lept forward to fight them both at the same time, completely disregarding her own personal safety, as always. She made it abundantly clear that she wanted their full, undivided attention, all to herself.

Gryph turned his attention to the hyena, too. Again.

"Gryph, GO!" Mal barked. It was becoming increasingly obvious to everyone that these two adversaries were just a distraction. What's more: they WANTED Gryph to go on alone. Getting separated like this was NOT the plan going in to this mess, but those were the cards the gryphons were dealt today.

Gryph acknowledged Malvagio, who had a hyena directly at his throat again. He ran down the hall, past the frog. They locked eyes for what felt like an eternity, but neither of them touched the other. In fact, the frog never moved.

That was the most confident frog Gryph had ever seen.

Deeper inside the lab, Gryph stepped over fresh corpses. Bullet wounds. Rabbit might be close by.

"And who might you be? Can't you see we're in the middle of a heist?" A masked figure asked from the darkest corner of the room.

"My name's Gryph, and if you are who I think you are, you'd better come quietly."

Rabbit stepped from the shadows to reveal himself. Like the others, he was a human-sized rabbit chimera, but he wore a trench coat. He did have a Noh mask on, however. It was a very fancy one, and made him look cool as fuck. He was already cool as fuck, but the mask made him even cooler than fuck.

"Well, Gryph, my name's Killer Rabbit, and I like to come... LOUDLY!" Rabbit shot a single bullet directly at Gryph. He was holding a gun the whole time!

The bullet did not meet its mark. Rabbit couldn't tell what happened. He was usually an excellent shot, and Gryph was a big enough target, and it was a close ranged situation. Rabbit's anxiety started to get the better of him. He shot again. He squinted this time, to really see where the bullet ended up.

The bullet, for the second time, did not meet its mark.

Gryph stepped forward. "Are you done, yet?"

Rabbit's hand started to shake uncontrollably. His heart pounded uncontrollably in his chest. He was having a panic attack. Here he was, alone, in a room, essentially unarmed, being a helpless rabbit in front of a gryphon. Even a stone cold killer rabbit would crack in such a situation. Rabbit was trying his best, okay?

Rabbit's breath grew audible. It was a constant gasping for air sound. A wheezing sound. His trembling hand started to turn the gun on himself.

"Let's just put the gun down, okay?"

"I know I hit you!" Rabbit clenched the gun hard, trying desperately to control his trembling.

"You did! Okay? Ow. See?"

"YOU'RE MOCKING ME!"

Gryph saw an opportunity to grab the gun and he acted promptly, but the moment he lurched forward, a massive katana blade came into view from his flank, so he took a step back, instead. The blade didn't cut anything, but, to be fair, the blade wasn't trying to cut anything. It was just making itself known.

And its handler also made himself known.

Standing now, between the tall white rabbit and the large silver gryphon, was an equally large midnight black gryphon, clad in ninja armor, and armed to the teeth. He wore a Noh mask, like the rest of them, and it was a unique design, slightly different from the rest. Like all the other masks, it covered 90% of his face, leaving only the lower beak exposed. The eye slit was unusually narrow, and may or may not hinder the wearer. It was too early to tell, as far as Gryph was concerned.

"Can't you see we're in the middle of a heist?" The black gryphon asked, turning his sword's business end toward Gryph.

"That's what I said," Rabbit commented, having calmed down immensely since senpai showed up.

"...I'm leaving with that rabbit." Gryph peered at the tip of the katana currently held at his face.

"You're leaving in a box," the other gryphon retorted.

"Ohhh, I ~like~ boxes!" A new voice permeated the room. It was noticeably female, and for a moment, Gryph thought it was the hyena again, but something was different.

Out of the shadows approached a cat chimera, only a hair shorter than the rabbit. Her tail whipped excitedly behind her. She wore limited clothing, quite different in style from her ninja teammates, but she still wore a Noh mask, slightly different in design from the rest.

"YOU stay out of this!" the black gryphon barked, pointing his sword, and most of his attention, to the cat.

Gryph saw this as an opportunity to disarm his opponent and swiftly kicked the hilt of the sword.

The other gryphon was caught off-guard, and his sword ended up flying out of his hand, clattering on the ground in front of Rabbit. Before he knew it, Gryph had pounced on him and tackled him to the ground. The impact was so heavy that it sent his mask flying off of his face and up into the air.

Everyone gasped.

Gryph was face-to-face with his ex-boyfriend. His eyes widened and his body froze. He remained on top of the other gryphon.

"...Skye?"

No answer.

"You're alive?"

Still no answer. Skye's eyes narrowed.

Gryph noticed a scar covering one side of Skye's face. He placed his hand on it, caressing it.

"What happened to you?"

This time, there was a definite answer from Skye. The assassin had found his second katana and thrust it directly up into Gryph's heart. Its tip rushed out of Gryph's back, covered in blood.

The pain was sudden, and all too familiar. Gryph had received lethal damage. He stared directly into Skye's eyes for as long as possible before his body vanished without a trace. Evading certain death via teleportation technique was, oddly enough, completely normal for Gryph now, ever since he received the X-2 implant, but for Skye, seeing his ex-boyfriend who he just tried to kill vanishing into thin air was traumatizing, and not something Skye ever recalled Gryph doing. Questions needed answers.

"Get back here, you dumb bird!" the hyena cursed from down the hall. Malvagio appeared in the doorway, followed closely behind by the hyena, who was then promptly body slammed by Zero, until the two ladies were way past the doorway and out of sight again. The hilarious echo of clattering wood blocks broke up the monotony.

"Zero... Zero!!" Mal barked, trying to get her attention without taking his eyes off of the people in the room – especially Killer Rabbit.

Zero literally broke through the wall beside Mal, rather than using the door. What's worse: she acted like everything was perfectly normal.

"WHAT!?" She stared directly at him, covered in drywall dust.

Mal pointed at Killer Rabbit.

"Is that him?" Zero peered.

"It's got to be him."

"Why? Because he's a rabbit? That's racist, Mal."

"Get serious, please. We're late for taco night."

"I'll show you taco night!" She walked past him and bumped her hip into him on purpose.

"Finally, it's my turn!" the cat reached down by her side and revealed a handbell, which she raised up in front of her. She stared directly at the two remaining gryphons and grinned as if she'd already won.

A flick of the wrist, and the bell tolled a single time. The sound reverberated throughout the room. It quickly reached the ears of the two remaining gryphons. The sound was indescribably pleasant. Both of the gryphons had never heard anything like it before. Mal fell victim to its charm, and turned toward Zero. Zero didn't know what was going on. She felt funny, but wasn't fully charmed by the bell sound. She looked back at Mal, who had a clear bloodlust in his eyes.

"Mal?"

No answer.

Instead, Mal took a step toward Zero. Zero's ears dropped. She knew that look. It was the look a predator gives its prey, right as it's cornering them.

"Mal, cut it out..."

"Why aren't you charmed?" The cat asked, perplexed. "No matter. He'll take care of you whether you're charmed or not!"

Truer words have never been spoken.

Malvagio leapt on Xarxazeroth, slamming her body into the side of the wall. More parts of the already-damaged wall crumbled under the force of the attack. Zero pushed back to defend herself, stretching her limbs out to distance herself from Mal, if only by an arm's length. Mal, however, would remain undeterred, and kept leaning in with all his force, going so far as to dislocate and break his own bones just to get close enough to bite her.

Out of options, she risked the entire mission and teleported the two of them to the shadow realm, where Mal quickly regained control of himself.

"What just happened?" Mal yelled, feeling extremely weird from the experience.

"You lost control of yourself. It's that bell. It's a weapon. It didn't work on me, though."

"Of course, it didn't work on you!" Mal said with obvious envy.

"It made me feel tingly. Does that count?"

"Not helping, Zero!" Mal looked around, only to spot Gryph lying on his side nearby.

"Gryph!" Mal barked.

No answer.

"Are you okay?" Zero asked, leaning over Gryph.

"...No..." Gryph whispered, his eyes flooded with tears.

Back at the heist, the ninja troupe were talking amongst themselves.

"Any idea how they keep disappearing?"

"No, but we should leave."

"They saw your face, Skye..."

No answer.

"...Skye?"

A single teardrop ran down Skye's cheek.

Only need the lines in bold (but nothing in parentheses, those are my notes to you). Feel free to go off script or include extra stuff.

"Can't you see we're in the middle of a heist?" (I re-used this line to be funny. It was originally said by the rabbit.) The black gryphon asked, turning his sword's business end toward Gryph.
