("Santa Baby" plays as we see mother and daughter sitting in the great room. A white tree and assorted colorful Christmas decor serves as painting on this late December night. Child- Mommy! I was just watching TV and they said that Christmas...(cut off by mother slapping child's hand)

Parent- Shhhhhhh! (Mother, obviously high, tries to put child at ease) I'm sorry sweetie. Santa isn't coming this year.

Child (eyes widened)- whaaaaat! Why??

Parent- Awe Aurora, my sweet girl Aurora. I mean "lil person"(in a child like tone) But you listen to meeeeEEee (words slurred)...it's not your fault. It's gonna be ok.

Child- I was taught that if you're naughty, Santa doesn't come. I been good all yearrrr! (Tears start to flood like the Nile, the incessant child whine guest stars)

Parent- Perish the thought honey! You were good...good lord we ALL WERE GOOD. This is just a different year. You remember our talks.

Child- Different? The same different that made grandma and grandpa too far to come to Thanksgiving? Same different that made Dad fall asleep into the gravy... (Tears dry up, more confusion sets in)

Parent- Yes. (defeated) Holidays are prohibited. That means no more. Cancelled like a 80s sitcom. Remember Small Wonder? You know how the restaurants & stores been closed. Well..it's the same thing with Santa.

(The mother/daughter convo is interrupted by a hard thump from above. Then the sound of running...)

Father- (Emerging from a smoke filled room, bellowing) MOVE! The BEER DISTRIBUTOR is about to CLOSE and I need a NEW PIPE too! Damn!

Mother- (putting her hands over the child's ears) Damn you! Could you be more discreet you impatient son of a bitch! Thanks to the last eight ball you purchased, I cannot afford the Malibu beach house that goes with the whole Barbie set! Aurora is looking forward to that! You really are a god damn waste with a room temperature IQ!

Father- (Filled with tweaked rage, he picks up a ceramic tree and hurls it towards his wife. Missing by an inch crashing to the ground, fake ornaments projectiles leaving a scream escape from Aurora) You are cold, conniving miserable bitch!

If memory serves correct it was you that demanded that eight ball and for Christ's sake woman, we DON'T need that stupid Barbie house. Aurora will be fine.

(The child takes her mother's hands off her ears)

Child- what's wrong?? (The tears start making a reoccurring cameo)

Mother- Nothing darling. Nothing at all. (A condescending look saturates as she reminds him) Oh... don't forget the coupon for my wine coolers!

Father- (Dismissive as he grabs the keys) Yeah whatever..

(Mother looks at Aurora, melancholic since nearing the end of her upper high)Oh darling.. It's the Night Before Christmas-2020. Things are a little fuzzy right now.

(Snow hits the window setting the Christmas wonderland portrait, camera pulling out, mother and child by the window, snow continues to blanket the nearby foothills)

Child- Mommy? Will I see Santa in 2021? (despondence paints Aurora's face)

Parent- (filled with caution and optimism) I hope so. I really hope so. (Her hand opens to 3 little blue pills of alprazolam. She finishes her cooler with them.) I hope so. ... (Lips quiver, fade to black____)
