Oliver went to the market one morning to sell the grapes he just harvested, only to find another farmer selling grapes as well. In comparison to the other farmer, he was told his grapes were too sour. So they didn't sell.

He got an idea to sell the inferior grapes to the other farmer. They agreed on a reduced price and the farmer took the grapes home. Oliver felt triumphant.

The next morning Oliver went to the market and saw the farmer selling jars of roasted grapes. Oliver felt foolish and confused that he didn't think to do the same.

I totally get this Darnell. Oliver shouldn't have felt foolish. Because at least he had the intelligence to sell the grapes to the other farmer. Another person may have just throw them out and it would have been a waste. So yes the farmer he sold them to have a bigger idea and made more money from the grapes. But Oliver still made some money from his grapes. So no loss for anyone. And Oliver learned a lesson. Next time around Oliver may be selling roasted grapes instead of stewing over sour grapes.

I guess me and Oliver learned something. I never thought about turning them into something else. I'm surprised cause I love red wine, lol. Either way, he did the right thing by selling them instead of throwing them away. Nice message!

Enjoyed the moral behind this, sorry for Oliver but got to make something out of what you have !

  • Interesting. I don't believe I've ever had roasted grapes before.

  • Ooh ouch! That hurts for Oliver, but I did enjoy the story. Very interesting how you got that whole story to be told in such short fashion. Also, roasted grapes? I think I need to find and try those!

I think this has happened to all of us. In this situation, I usually say that it's better to have sold something than nothing at all. ;-) I enjoyed reading your story!
