Have you ever read a love story without romance?

The clouds hang in the sky like lumps of cotton, almost obscuring the brightly shining sun. A girl sitting looking up at the sky, leaning against a tree trunk, and sitting on ankle-deep grass. She takes a deep breath, her phone is ringing.

One incoming message notification, she reads the incoming message thread. Then smiled faintly, it's a message from her boyfriend. The same message every morning, nothing is different. Just contains only 'I miss you, where are you now?.' or 'Have you had breakfast? good morning.'

The wind is blowing with the atmosphere of the sky starting to cloudy. This girl just stares blankly at her phone screen, short message, never changes, until makes her feel sick to read it. Then she also started typing replies, 'I miss you too, I'm in the park. You also don't forget to breakfast.' And quickly hit the send button.

She went back to reading the part where she typed 'I miss you.' then shook her head and laughed, no she doesn't really miss him. She threw the phone to the side and then raised his head again enjoying the wind and cloudy weather, at least he hoped it won't rain.

"Hey, Alice!."

The scream sounds loudly calling out to the girl leaning against the tree trunk. Alice looked sideways, turn out it was her best friend.

"Why are you here Lina?."

Lina didn't answer, the girl gasped and sat beside Alice.

"Your damn lover told me to come here to accompany you."

Alice chuckles and smoothed out her hair which was slightly messy due to the wind. Both of them were silent for a moment, enjoying the silence for a few minutes. Until Lina tapped her on her shoulder, slightly adjusted her sitting position, and curiously started to ask something.

"In fact, I always wonder, you two are lovers but two don't look like that either."

Alice was silent, even though she agreed to that in her heart. One or two birds flying low around them, Alice glances at the birds then looked back at Lina's face waiting for an answer.

"I've never even seen you be yourself when you're with him, the point is that you become a different person, right?."

Alice isn't surprised if Lina can even notice, she knows her too well.

"Yes, I become someone else with him, and there was never really any romance between us, this is not a touching love story."

Lina looked at her not understanding, even though she understood one thing, they never really loved each other. She then decided to lay down on the grass, the sky is getting dark, some people are already running for shelter.

"You're guys so weird."

And Alice again agree with her,

"But why you are can be a couple?."

Don't know, even Alice doesn't know the answer.

-

"Did you have fun today?."

William asked with his hands that tidy the dining table after they finish dinner. Alice nodded even though she was actually just spending time taking shelter in one of the taverns near a park with Lina, they then decided to watch television in the living room, Alice's mother then offered them a snack of the cookies just finished making.

"Not bad mom."

Alice give a comment,

"Yeah, it's delicious.'

William also give praise although if be honest it was too salty and burn.

"Wow you guys are really lying, obviously this is not good."

His papa chirps making his mother feel mad, Alice and William just laughed when they watched the two of their fight. William cleared his throat, catching Alice's attention.

"I want to tell you something."

William whispered, the sound of the film playing from the television faintly sounded, Alice sat down on the sofa, followed by William who sat next to her,

"So, what do you want to talk about?."

"Let's break up?."

Alice was surprised, she asked why it's suddenly, William rubbed the back of the neck then laughed awkwardly.

"I just feel like I can't continue our relationship."

Alice gulped, then smiled faintly and nodded, though at least she didn't feel heartbroken, the two of them then laughed softly, watching television together, indeed maybe it's better like this than in a relationship without feelings, I told you before, this is not a touching love story.
