Part 5

The situation that Amelia and Aaron had found themselves in, was something they would have never imagined to be real. They stood there covered in nothing but blankets, in a strange room, with an alarm blaring, and a humanoid alien creature freaking out in front of them. It wasn’t a very ideal situation, and Amelia began to wonder if they would die before knowing the truth. Just as she was about to mentally break down, she saw Aaron run towards the alien thing. He pushed the creature over and ran out into the hallway.

“Come on!” He quickly called to Amelia as he looked around the hall. After looking to the left, he gave a startled expression and darted towards the right. Amelia was still panicking inside, as if all the bravery she was faking previously was beginning to run out. However, she wasn’t about to be left behind here.

She runs out into the hallway after Aaron. She gives the left a quick glance, seeing a wave of alien creatures coming after them. She lets out a loud gasp in fear, before running away from them. Under normal conditions, a few feet of running would have left her out of breath and gasping for air, but now she felt like she could go on for a long time. Not only was there adrenaline, but the fact that she was magically in shape now really helped. It was as if the reason she could get away from them, was because of what they did. She looks back to see if there was actually any hope of losing them.

The Alien creatures weren’t that far behind, and she got a better look at them than she previously had. They all had different heights, but were taller than human. It seemed like most of them were approximately eight feet tall. They were very thin looking, but had lean muscles that were well defined. Their skin was very pale, basically completely white. Their eyes were completely black, and their nostrils were no more than slits on their face. Their mouths seemed flat and lipless. The shape of their heads, however, was similar to humans. They had two thumbs, one on each side of their hand, with three fingers in-between. Similarly, their feet had two toes on the back and three on the front. They wore no clothes, but it also wasn’t obvious if there were any gender differences. Though, she wasn’t about to stop and ask them about that in detail.

They were carrying some type of gun looking weapon, but were currently not firing them. They were simply chasing them. The very little chatter that could be understood, seemed like they just wanted to catch them. Amelia and Aaron just kept running, trying to find an apparent exit, but having no luck.

They came to a corner and turned down another hallway. When they got halfway down it, they saw another group of aliens turn down in front of them. The two of them were about to be surrounded. Aaron suddenly grabbed Amelia by the hand and ran into a door that was beside them. Amelia allowed her self to get dragged along, hoping that wherever this lead was better than getting caught.

Within the door, it was initially dark. But then the lights came on, and revealed what could only be some sort of laboratory. The room being filled with chemicals and computers gave it away. However, they didn’t take the time to inspect it further. For they knew that their pursuers were only moments behind them. They ran to a large strong looking door on the far side of the lab. For a reason they couldn’t currently explain, it opened in front of them. The aliens began to rush into the room, as Amelia and Aaron run inside. Then, for some reason, the door closed behind them just before the aliens reached them.

Uncertainty filled their minds, since this could either be coincidence or a trap. Either way, they knew it wouldn’t be long until those alien creatures got in. They began speed walking down the dark and ominous hall that they were now stuck in. It lead to another large door that looked like the one they just entered. This door would also open up automatically for them.

This new room had a large glass wall in the middle of the room, and on the other side was a large creature. This creature was very different from the ones chasing them at first. This one stood on all fours, and was extremely muscular. It looked scaly, and was a greenish brown color. It had a long snout filled with sharp teeth, and red pupils in it’s eyes. It also had four thin tentacle like appendages coming out of his back, that waved around in the air. The beast crept up to the glass and stood up on his hind legs, and was even taller than the pale aliens. It let out a low, growling snarl. Amelia stood there frozen in fear, yet glad it was behind the glass. She turned and saw Aaron trying to pry open an air vent of some sort. Suddenly, The door behind them closed back, and the glass wall began to lower.

Amelia really began to panic, and couldn’t even form words to express what was happening. She merely glanced back again at Aaron, who had successfully opened the vent. He quickly runs over to Amelia, and tries to move her towards the vent.

“You go first! Hurry!” He said to her trying to convince her to go. She would simply nod and run towards the vent. She climbs in as quickly as she can, and begins moving forward through the vent.

As Aaron would quickly try and follow after her, the glass holding the beast back fully lowers. The beast then snarls, and leaps out. Aaron managed to pull himself all the way inside and barely get his foot out of the way as it’s jaw snaps at him. However, just when he thought he was safe, one of the beast’s tentacles grabbed him by the ankle. It stung and he began to lose feeling in his leg.

“Keep going!” He yells out, as the thing pulls him back out of the vent and he disappears from sight.

“Aaron!” Amelia screamed as she began to cry. She almost broke down there, but she forced herself to keep crawling. She felt sick and completely heartbroken. She realized what she secretly always knew. She really liked him, but she was scared of committing to anything. Now, she found herself wishing she had accepted his offer to dinner. However, she had to at least try and focus on getting out of this alive. Otherwise he would have went out in vain.

She finally reached another vent opening, and she peeked out to see if it was a safe place to exit. The room was dark, and looked like another lab. The lack of light gave her the assumption it was safe enough to investigate. She slowly and quietly pushed the vent cover out. She then hid the vent cover inside the actual vent, so it wouldn’t hit the floor and be noisy. She wiped her tears, and sniffled, then slowly climbed out, and landed on the floor. The motion activated lights suddenly popped on, and she saw this lab was much different than the last.

There were two large round, clear tanks filled with liquid in the center of the room, with tubes connected to them. They were also surrounded by large computers. She was nervous, but decides to investigate the tanks. She slowly crept over to them, trying to remain as quiet as possible.

When she reached them, she noticed that there was a human shaped figure in each of them. She places her hand on one of the tubes and wipes away some of the condensation that collected on the outside. She cuffs her hands over the glass to try and see what was inside. Once she got a good look, she pulled away and gasped in horror. She quickly looked in the other one and pulled away with tears forming in her eyes. She was already on the verge of breaking down after what happened to Aaron, but this threw her over the edge. It was her parents inside the tanks.

She collapsed in the floor crying uncontrollably. The last place she wanted to find her parents was in here, and like this. This whole misadventure she found herself on was too much for her to mentally handle. She stopped trying to make it and just lost all control and hope right there on the floor.

Suddenly the door to the lab opens, and the pale aliens begin to pour in. They quickly surround her pointing their weapons at her. She looks up at them with tears in her eyes. She wasn’t afraid of them anymore, she was angry. She moves to get up, screaming in anger. But before she could, one of the aliens then raised their weapon. It pointed it at her, and it made a buzzing sound. Then with a quick flash, Amelia just watched everything fade to black.
