The hip hopper.

It was a calm breezy fall after school evening. The sun was warm, orange and gleaming. Catching the view while the birds sang to the whistle of our young lad Charlie who has taken his normal route into the park. Every day Charlie walks straight from school to his house like a good ole boy. As he’s walking his routinely walk, a light catches his eye and for the first time he looks a different way, the birds stop to chirp.

Charlie walks slowly in awe approaching this light, And as he gets closer he sees a sign for the most beautiful piece of chocolate cake he has ever laid his eyes on. Charlie looks around, to hear no sound, quickly astounded by a quick lick he quickly smiles. Charlie then devours this beautiful piece of chocolate cake the next second he could. It was the most delicious chocolate cake he’s ever had!! Walking away from the scene with tears running down his eyes and chocolate residue all over his face. (Who knew a little piece of chocolate cake can become so messy) grinning from ear to ear the happiest fellow, charlie hopscotching his way home. He hears a faint voice shouting hello! and stops to see where it’s coming from.

He beams his eyes towards all directions but he couldn’t see anything! “Helloo, hellooo” he hears it louder but can’t seem to pinpoint where is coming from.

Bop!!! It seems a grass hopper has landed on Charlie’s shoulder. Hellooo!! The little grasshopper who’s a little red in the face seems a little flustered. You ate my chocolate cake!!! The grasshopper screams!

Charlie finally focused his eyes at the shouting grasshopper and tumbled over.

The grasshopper takes a hop and lands on Charlie’s gut. Pop! “Hello” The grasshopper speaks. “ this cake was baked for my dearest sake. But you came and take before I can giveth away” charlie confused with the slightest chance to speak, “I thought the cake was left for no one to eat. So I ate and I ate and wow yumm it was great.”

As full of chocolate Charlie could be, he was telling the grasshopper the truth indeed. This grasshopper was very disappointed. Pulling out his little toothpick sword and ramming it into Charlie’s sweater as he takes a knee, tired but not defeated. He looked at the confused Charlie years ahead of him and realized a chocolate cake wasn’t worth dying over. He plants both feet, pushes him self high into the air slowly in formation gracefully coming down, sword first into a rock slicing it in half. He propels him self back in the air to land on his feet.

To then Charlie says.

“Go and never touch another hoppers chocolate cake again.”

The hopper hops out into the mist never to see our young boy Charlie ever again.

Here’s a quick story 26 years earlier on how the hip hoppers story began,

He was just a young hopper with a pen and pad,

Writing some good written it was all he ever had,

Training to be swordsman, putting the work in with his grand dad everyday.

They resided in a small village that made the best chocolate cake.

Until one morning the village was under attack for this very same chocolatey taste,

Luckily for the young hip hopper has his life spared on that day. For he was fetching some water some odd miles away.

Everyone passed that day. Leaving the young grass hopper alone to stray.

with all the recipes he’s ever learned. He will carry the legacy of his village’s ern. The chocolate cake recipe with the art of swordmanship he has harbored, Is the knowledge he’ll carry and spread throughout his adventures as he becomes a Wanderer. A chocolate baking soldier. With a poem in the recipe,

The hip hopper writes

“My whole village died for their recipe of their chocolate cake.”

“It was a fate they didn’t choose. But I will carry what I know and not repeat the same mistakes done to my village.”

The hip hopper roamed and hopped around for a long time.

Writing some writtens in which he can spare some lives. The hip hopper will be back for another tale.

He’s cool and swift, almost with no care, one swing of his little sword will slice the string coming out of your nose hair.

Wait till the next time to meet with our grasshopper friend, he may have one piece of chocolate cake in the far left. Even Charlie saw this once from a distance and that was enough said, too bad just like this short story it has come to an end.
