One day, a very cute rhubarb cat was playing by the small river. It was getting dark, and it was a little tired from playing, so it drank some water, found a hay nest under the shade of willows by the river bank, and lay in it and fell asleep.

A large group of ducks were swimming happily in the river. Suddenly, a red-billed female duck felt her stomach swell and hurt, and it was really uncomfortable. She hurriedly said to her friends: "You can play first, I... my stomach hurts...". The ducks burst into laughter.

The red-billed duck ignored everyone's ridicule, because its stomach hurt even worse, and it already felt the egg move in its stomach. It flew to the shore, looked around, and chose the grass nest under the shade of willows at a glance. Before it came to take a closer look, it lay down. After a while, a white and bright duck egg came out, she caressed it for a while, covered it gently with hay, and said: "Good baby, mother will come to see you tomorrow!" and left.

At this time, the big yellow cat was lying behind the red-billed duck, sleeping soundly! In its sleep, it had a strange dream. The dream made its stomach hurt badly, and it felt like it was about to poop, so it hurriedly found a place to squat down, one, two, one, shouting slogans and getting angry. With a "poof", a round egg was laid. "Mom!" The big yellow cat looked back and exclaimed. The cry suddenly woke up from the dream. "Fortunately, it was a dream, otherwise how could it have been!" Just as I was about to stand up, I felt that there was something behind me, but when I looked back, it was really an egg the size of a duck egg. It was still warm to the touch, and it was clearly a newly laid egg. "What's going on, did I really lay an egg? This is too embarrassing, what will others say if it is spread out, and what do you think of me?" On second thought, I have never been a mother, and I always dream of being a mother, no matter what kind of egg it is, it was laid by myself anyway, and I must love it well and try my best not to let others know! Thinking of this, the big yellow cat caressed for a while, covered the egg tightly with hay, and went home.

The big yellow cat didn't sleep well that night, and kept thinking about the egg baby it just gave birth to. When it woke up in the morning, it ate something randomly and came to the river. Soon, it found the egg under the shade of willow, picked it up and kissed it non-stop, and muttered: "Baby, mom came to see you, mom misses you..."

"What are you doing, put my egg down quickly." The red-billed duck also happened to come to see its own egg. She saw the old cat holding the egg and thought she was going to eat the duck egg, so she hurriedly shouted. "Come on, the big yellow cat is going to steal my egg!" This shout didn't matter, the nearby ducks, goose, and goats all gathered around, blocking the big yellow cat in the middle.

"I... I didn't steal your egg, I love it..." The big yellow cat said aggrieved. "Besides, it wasn't laid by you!"

"This is what I placed, I placed it yesterday evening!" The red-billed duck said confidently, "I didn't place it, did you place it?"

"This is really my order," the big yellow cat said in a low voice with a red face.

"Wow!" The little animals burst into flames.

  "How is that possible?"

  "Too outrageous".

"Cats can lay eggs, never heard of it".

"I know you don't believe it, I really did it, I can swear it." The big yellow cat was so anxious that it almost cried. The red-billed duck was even more pressing, and the big yellow cat felt that it couldn't tell.

At this time, Grandpa Goat stroked his long beard and came over. Everyone gathered around and asked Grandpa Goat to comment.

Grandpa Goat smiled and said, "Children, don't worry, this matter is easy to handle, put the eggs in the nest and don't move anyone. I'll let Aunt Goose take care of it, and the results will come out naturally in twenty days!" Everyone said in unison.

On the morning of the twentieth day, everyone came to the grass nest in unison, their eyes fixed on the egg.

The red-billed duck was elated, and she was sure that a living duck cub would pop out. The big yellow cat was very uneasy, although she was sure that the egg was laid by herself, she was afraid of giving birth to a monster that looked like a duck but not a duck, and a cat but not a cat! The two of them, one on the left and one on the right, put their ears on the egg and listened.

At this time, the old goat grandpa waved his hand, and everyone immediately quieted down. After a while, there was a rustling sound in the egg, and as the sound got louder, everyone became excited. The old goat grandpa raised a hand and started the countdown silently, and everyone counted together in a low voice: "Five, four, three, two, one..."

With a "click", a flat mouth broke out of the shell, and after a while, the whole body jumped out. It really is a lively baby duck! Everyone cheered.

The big yellow cat blushed, she took the mother duck's hand and kept saying sorry, it was her mistake. Grandpa Old Goat laughed, patted her on the back and said, "I think you want children too much, you will definitely be a loving and responsible mother who will not despise children. Since you like children so much, be a godmother to this little duck!"

"That's great!" The big yellow cat was very happy. She picked up the baby duck and kissed it again and again. The mother duck also took her hand and congratulated her. In the warm applause of everyone, the baby duck had a cute mother cat!
