Whether you can lucid dream or not, I figure this could make for a fun exercise before you go to bed. Make what you want to out of this adventure. If you do have the power to lucid dream, maybe you can live your selected dream tonight.

The figure in the hood turns to you. This person ignores your question. They may have chuckled at it. They ask you what are your impressions of the forest. You respond:

B.) I don’t care for it. I’m searching through the forest to find a healing fountain of legend lore. It gives you eternal youth or eternal stamina.

C.) This forest is an odd shade of magenta. I’m pretty sure it’s made of crystals.

D.) This place reminds me of the woods outside my grandmother’s house. I used to go there in a red hood. A wolf would always try to impersonate people. A lumberjack took care of him.

When you turn a corner you see something slyly moving in the shadows. It makes a loud:

The animal chases after you. You quickly climb up a tree. The animal continues to make its menacing sounds. You keep climbing up the tree. You find something and drop it on the animal’s head. What did you find?

The animal is knocked to the ground. It makes a loud yelp. Then it leaves you. As you’re sitting in the tree you notice a bird’s nest. You reach inside the nest and find an egg. If you meant to find the egg, you wake up.

Otherwise, you hold the egg in your hand and inspect it. What color is it? (That depends on what you’re seeking, so scroll below the answers.)

RED — THE UNICORN HALFLING

The unicorn halfling will be in the hottest part of the forest. In order to get what you want from it, you’ll have to trade it a tooth. Will you do it? Is the reward worth it?

BLUE — CENTAUR

The centaur is located in the lake. In order to get what you want from the centaur, you must listen to its long tale about how stars were once mothers. Will you listen to this month-long story?

GREEN — QUIIGIO

You can find the Quiigio where the trees stay green all year. In order to get what you want from it, you must bring it seven rocks from seven different continents. Cheating will end in death or waking up.

YELLOW — PUFFIN

You can find a puffin where the birds gather their shiny things. You must select a shiny thing to give to the hooded figure instead. It’s unknown how the hooded figure will respond. . .

BROWN — RAZORBACK

The razorbacks roll around in the mud. Find the muddiest part of the forest. You will have to exorcise a demon out of a razorback. Fail and you’ll wake.

PURPLE — PHOENIX

The Phoenix is found when you go to the place where things resurrect. Look for the resting place of bones. The Phoenix will only give its blessing if it trusts you. It goes where people are good of heart.

If you are not good of heart, the bird of flames won’t recognize you. (You’ll be living your life in the graveyard if you don’t give up on the stubborn bird.)

When you return to the hooded figure, you find the person has aged by one year. They wear mismatched earrings. They’re eating fruit. They congratulate you on a job well done. This person tells you that if you ever want to return the gift, you can.

THE IMMORTALITY POTION 🧪

The hooded figure will refill your immortality potion whenever you like. You may tire of wandering the planet and seeing your loved ones pass before you. Eventually, you’ll be ready to make it to the other side of the forest. You will be content when it is your time to pass. One day… you’ll skip getting your refill.

UNBREAKABLE SHIELD 🛡

The shield of protection won’t let harm come your way. You can avoid any weapon. You can take any risk. One day you’ll want to give it to someone you love. You may give it to an adventurer. You’ll one day tire of facing monsters in dungeons and caves. You’ll be content to find rest.

FORTUNE TELLING EYE 🔮

The glass eye is handy. You use it for a long time to evade death. You let your friends use it too, and they avoid death as much as they can. Some illnesses are impossible to avoid because there isn’t a cure for them. The eye will eventually go to a Princess who wishes to use it for good. She wants to protect her kingdom. She uses it wisely.

BAG OF MONEY 💰

With a bag of never-ending money, you become the wealthiest person in the world. You enjoy luxuries of all kinds. Your taste in things and your expectations get higher and higher. The hope is that you’ll give the money to the poor. You decide what you want to do with it. Eventually, you don’t want the money bag because you don’t like the burden of it. Money = responsibility. You let it go once you no longer want it.

RING OF TELEPORTATION 💍

The ring allows you to travel anywhere you like. You escape many bad situations. You travel to distant lands. You grow in knowledge, but you also become lonely. You feel disconnected from home. You keep traveling. You don’t get rid of the ring. You keep lucid dreaming.

NEVER SELECTED ANYTHING 🦊

A sly fox you are. You are the master of your dreams. You are not forced to make decisions. You know how to direct the dream yourself. Sweet dreams to you.
