How I Cook a Perfect Steak
Everyone has different techniques but this one is mine and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
I am by no means a chef so please don’t judge me based off my skills that I have learned on my own or from watching other people. I have always said I would be a vegetarian but I can’t give up on my steak loving problem, hence me sharing my steak recipe. (Sorry, vegan readers! You probably shouldn’t have opened this blog of mine.) Maybe one day I will have the willpower to never eat steak again but not today or tomorrow.
First and foremost, I believe part of having a perfect steak dinner is that you will have to have the perfect sides to go with it. For me that would be a loaded baked potato and fresh shrimp. I understand everyone is different, so go with the sides you love for sure! In two easy steps I am going to show you how I cook my perfect steak and hope you try it and enjoy it as much as I do.
Marinate your steak in the fridge for 4 hours or longer. I feel like the longer the better because the steak will just melt in your mouth. I do not like my steak tough and chewy and I’m sure majority would agree. Nobody likes taking a bite of food that they have to chew for 10 minutes. If you do, well I’m sorry I’m not sure I can help you ruin a good steak like that.
I don’t really measure because who has that kind of time and patience, honestly? Not me, I’m over here pinching some salt here, pepper there, and onion powder everywhere. (Kinda rhymed in my head LOL) Anyways I heavily drizzle kikkoman teriyaki sauce on both side of my steak. I also like to massage it in really well. I then add salt, pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder. I also massage that in really well along with some olive oil. Now don’t create a tower of seasons on your steak and then come blaming me when it comes out gross. I don’t measure nor will provide measuring instructions because I just use common sense on how much flavor I want on my steak and what looks like to much or not enough. Obviously certain recipes I measure but not this one. Sorry, folks.
After you have allowed your steak to marinate, begin to start your wood fire. I love cooking my steak over a wood fire because it just adds so much more flavor this way and it taste better so feel free to argue with me on this. If you don’t know how to start a wood fire, I highly suggest you either Google some videos or don’t attempt this inside.
Anywho, get your fire going but don’t let the flames get too high or else you will burn the outside and have a rare inside—unless you like a burnt steak and a very rare inside, I say go for it and let that flame burn, burn, burn. I like my steak Medium Rare but not burnt on the outside therefore I only cook mine on each side for about four to five minutes only turning it once. I think the trickiest part is just making sure your flame isn’t overpowering.
Add your sides of choice and enjoy a perfect steak. Unless you’re that person who burnt yours after I warned you. All I can say is I hope you like a rare steak at that point because I don’t know how to help you salvage that mistake.
