1) Don't Drink Cold Water After a Meal

This one is pretty common knowledge. When you drink something cold after a meal, it can cause the stomach to contract and that can lead to indigestion or heartburn. If you're really thirsty, have a room temperature beverage instead. In fact, you should wait 30 minutes after eating a meal to drink something. When you drink water or any other drink, you dilute the digestive juices in the stomach which leads to indigestion and bloating.

2)Don't Sleep After Eating a Meal

It's not a good idea to go to bed right after you've eaten a big, heavy meal. When you sleep, your body relaxes and that can lead to gastric reflux or acidity which will only make your stomach problems worse. Wait for at least two hours after eating before hitting the sack.

If you're really struggling to sleep after eating, try elevating your head a few inches by using some pillows. This will help reduce the chances of gastric reflux.

You should also avoid drinking fluids before bedtime as that can lead to an increase in urination during the night and disrupt your sleep cycle.

3) Don't Drink Alcohol After a Meal

We all know that alcohol isn't good for our health but it's especially bad for our digestion. When we drink alcohol, it relaxes the sphincter at the bottom of our esophagus and that can lead to heartburn and acid reflux. It also slows down our digestion which means that the food stays in our stomachs for longer periods of time. This can cause gas, bloating, and even vomiting.

4)Don't Eat Fruits After a Meal

Eating fruits after a meal can actually be harmful to our digestion. The acids in the fruit can cause the stomach to produce more gastric juices and that will lead to indigestion and bloating. It's better to eat fruits as part of your breakfast or as an afternoon snack.

If you're really craving something sweet after dinner, try having a piece of dark chocolate instead. Chocolate is full of antioxidants and it won't cause the same problems as fruits.

5) Avoid Taking a Bath After Eating

This one might sound a little strange but it's actually true. When we take a bath, the warm water relaxes our muscles and that can lead to gastric reflux. It's best to wait for at least an hour after eating before hopping in the tub.
