We Should All Be Fearless

This is for the Vocal “Sleep Resolution” challenge that they have teamed up with Lull for to hopefully help us all focus on what is best for us and our friends and families. So mine is “A New Year’s Resolution That Is Good For Me … and Others” and actually not much is going to change.

Every year , nay every day , I think there must be a better way than this in almost everything I do.

A Blurry Fat Me

There is a video of me singing at The Centre For Life over ten years ago(you can watch it on Facebook here and hear me sing Kate Bush's "Wuthering Heights and AC/DC's "Highway To Hell") , and the singing and band is excellent , but I look like a land whale in a football shirt. I was going to share it with a friend but decided better of it. Since then I may have lost fifteen kilograms (I have lost a lot) and that is a result of trying to eat better and taking some exercise, and that is a regime that I maintain to this day.

I always tell people that THEY are the most important person in THEIR life. NOT their children , NOT their SPOUSE or LOVER , not their PARENTS , THEY ARE. Sorry for the capitals. YOU have to maintain yourself so YOU can be there for others, like the people who I have listed. They are very important to you but you have to keep yourself as close to a hundred percent as you can.

I have lots wrong with me , but I keep myself as close to perfect as I can for the people that matter to me. I wasn’t always this careful about myself , but I am now and it is a resolution I keep every day. New Year's Resolutions about yourself should be permanent.

I always resolve to try and be happier and more content in everything I do. To listen to others advice and to take and share good things with others.

I know how difficult life can be , but I usually manage to get through it , and I have resolved to look out for and help others in any way I can , but to do that I have to look out for myself, and I do that.

I make sure I get enough rest, I generally go to bed at ten and rise at 5:45 am although I sometimes stay up later and get up later. Sleep is restorative and allows your body to recuperate , it is the machine and transport for your self and your soul, and in that, it is precious.

So essentially I will look after myself , sleep , rest , enjoy life and will be there when others need me.

I am cared for by friends and family and the wonderful NHS (my friends know what that means).

This improves my well being and keeps me in tip top form for others.

Since joining Vocal , I have been amazed at the support and love I get from the friends I have made there and they have made me feel a loved and valued member of their community. That wasn’t what I signed up for , I signed up in the hope of making some extra money , but I discovered treasures no money could ever buy in love and friendship and encouragement, which has also resulted in me publishing an ebook, which would never have happened without the Vocal community.

So my resolution may seem nebulous , to look after myself and others and to keep being happy, and if you are happy then life must be good for you.

Never Walk Alone

As always I have to lead you into this with a favourite piece of music, and maybe it should be “Fearless” by Pink Floyd from the album “Meddle” which fades out with the Liverpool Kop singing “You’ll Never Walk Alone” and while I am here my friends and family will never walk alone.

Be resolute in your New Year and your life.
