This is one question that has been in the minds of several parents. Down below I will try to give you a brief understanding of how Abacus Education can be beneficial for your child.

Abacus is often referred to as a mechanical calculator was invented almost 3000 years ago. In the ancient days, it was certainly invented as a tool that could aid the then common people in making the larger calculations, most likely to keep stock of their animal stock.

As of now, Abacus Training is being imparted to trigger whole brain development especially among young kids between the ages of 5 to 14 years. This is achieved by using numbers as a medium and Abacus instrument as the tool. Although the objective of the abacus program is to help the child to learn to calculate addition, subtraction, multiplication division and that too mentally, the fallout effect of this entire training program is a better-developed brain.

The Abacus instrument is a rectangular frame divided into two parts – the upper part known as the upper deck and the lower part which is known as the lower deck. The two parts are divided by a rod called the Horizontal Bar. To use Abacus the kids have to use both their hands to move the beads for calculating the numbers.

It has been proved in several studies that abacus Training helps in whole-brain development. This happens because learning to use an Abacus instrument involves the fingers of both the left and the right hands to move the beads. This has a positive effect on activating the sensors of both hemispheres of the brain. The process thus helps in the whole brain development of the child.

The results are best achieved at the age of 5 to 15 as this is believed to be the age when the development of the brain of a child is at its peak. Abacus education is important for the child as it is seen to develop several cognitive skills in the child.

Advantages of Abacus Learning:

1. Since the beads of the Abacus have a value, this allows the child to visualize a number, which is otherwise abstract. This abstract nature of numbers is what often makes learning math a great difficulty for the kids. This instils a number sense in the children.

2. Since during the process of Abacus Training over a period the kids have to visualise the Abacus and move the beads mentally, this helps in developing skills of listening, visualisation, imagination, recall, photographic memory and ultimately confidence.

3. The process of calculation involves visualizing an Abacus instrument, moving the beads mentally according to the numbers and the application of arithmetic operators and then delivering the correct bead value. The well-trained kids always calculate faster than a calculator with 100% accuracy. This takes care of their math phobia.

4. Abacus Training increases the confidence of the child, and it goes without saying that a confident child always exhibits better performance in overall academics.

5. As per a research on abacus, abacus Education activates both the left and right hemispheres of the brain, it improves the logical and creative ability of the child. The kids also exhibit excellent memories.

6. With the latest developments Abacus Education to the children can now also be imparted through an E-Learning platform. These Abacus E-Learning Platforms teach through interesting Math based video games.

7. This enhances the interest level of the child and this also proves to be a great stress buster, promoting happiness.

8. Abacus Training augments the child’s logical and analytical abilities.

9. Abacus calculations involve a mental process. This requires a lot of concentration and focus. The long Abacus training makes this a habit in the child and helps in general in other subjects too.

In the 21st century, Abacus Education has become widely popular and more and more parents are enrolling their children in the Abacus Program.

Conclusion:

Early mental development of the kids will ensure the success of our kids in the competitive world of the future. Parents in fact must encourage their children especially between the age of 5 to 14 to undergo Abacus Training.

The Abacus Program has 8 levels of 3 months each.

If by any chance you do not have an Abacus Training centre near your vicinity, you now have the option of enrolling your child with E-learning Platforms of Abacus.
