There’s no denying that technology is becoming more and more predominant in the field of education. Tablets are replacing textbooks, slideshow presentations are replacing blackboards and print materials, and students can research just about anything from their smartphones. While it is important to note that too much use of technology has a negative influence on young people too, we should also acknowledge the fact in many ways, technology makes learning more fun and interesting for students.

From K-12 through higher education, technology improves classroom experience in many significant ways. This article will explore how both teachers and students can benefit from educational technology.

Increasing Student Engagement

Students are not new to technology. They use it almost every day and they find it engaging and interesting. This creates a great opportunity for educators to integrate some forms of technology in classroom activities and to make learning more fun and effective. First of all, technology can personalize the education experience through tools like websites, apps, interactive e-learning games, virtual tutoring centers, and ebooks. Digital materials are highly engaging. For instance, students can go on a virtual trip or access an almost endless source of information. Technology stimulates active participation that can be hard to achieve through traditional classroom interaction.

Getting Student Data

The job of educators don’t end after a tough and sometimes, tiring day of teaching. Acquiring and updating students’ data is another tedious job for teachers. With technology, however, this process becomes easier and less time-consuming. In addition to Excel spreadsheets, there are some other tools that help educators become more productive, such as virtual lesson plans, online assessments, and grading software. Not only does technology enable easy gathering and sorting of data, but it also allows easy transfer to students and their parents.

Automated Grading System

It used to be this way, teachers fill out report cards and periodically send them home with students so parents can take a look and sign. But that was several years ago. Many schools have adopted an automated grading system where parents can access their children’s report cards whenever they want. Tools are also available to score tests and essays, and send assignments to students. More than their grades, parents can also get a peek into their children’s learning progress and inner thoughts by accessing their homework, essays, and activity outputs.

Technology helps to save money.

Declines in educational funding are a serious concern among many countries, even in developed ones. Almost every year, schools have no choice but to cut budgets and reduce costs. Good thing, many new technologies have emerged to support high-quality education while saving money. The concept of virtualization, for example, has taken over the majority of schools and universities these days. This technology can deliver efficient maintenance and interactive services for a low monthly rate. Other technologies that have robust educational benefits but are cost-efficient are VIP solutions for communications, cloud platforms that reduce paper printing, and interactive software and ebooks instead of expensive textbooks.

Less Need to Buy Expensive Textbooks

The average cost of textbooks per student is $1,168 per year. To make the matter worse, the information in textbooks rapidly advances that most books are out of date, and students would need a newer version almost every year. Thankfully, more and more schools are embracing eBooks to replace costly textbooks. Instead, parents can save for other important matters, such as their children’s tuition fees. From time to time they even can’t afford to pay for them, so they are taking steps, like to taking personal loans online for educational costs to cover.

Keep up with classroom management.

One of the primary goals of every teacher is to ensure that students actively participate in the learning process, not just receive it. From hosting video conferences from various guest speakers in the country or even abroad, to monitoring their daily performances, and facilitating activities, technology has significantly improved the quality of classroom instruction. But for nowadays to people need to talk to children with their language.

With technology it is fun.

Needless to say, integrating technology in usual classroom activities make learning more fun. Most students, especially young people prefer visual, interactive learning. Without technology, it’s just going to be book reading, storytelling, and some play. But with the arrival of many learning apps and tools, students’ imagination is triggered far beyond. They can interact with the deepest creatures in the sea or simulate real work environment through virtual tours. At the same time, technology helps students become more engaged and foster collaboration. Activities like blogging, podcasts, website creation, video conferencing, games, and social media are being utilized these days to enhance learning and knowledge retention.

Teaching Doesn't Take Much Time Now

Technology helps teachers overcome classroom challenges. Experts agree that the right use of technology benefits educators, not just the students. From checking and recording assessment scores to sending homework to students, sending communications and announcements, creating instructional materials, to facilitating classroom activities, technology helps teachers save time and energy without compromising the quality of education they offer to every student.

Personalized Learning

Teachers have long been personalizing learning for every student through creativity, hard work, and cultivation of meaningful relationships. But technology has taken this process to new heights. Through certain online platforms, students cannot only access robust resources and tools, they also get to access information that they need in a specific moment. Through these tools, each student can study at their own pace and teachers can effectively measure performance and evaluate the student’s learning needs.

Technology is never meant to replace learning.

It is meant to make learning more fun, engaging and effective. When used correctly, technology offers many amazing opportunities for schools and teachers to provide top-notch education that every student, regardless of their status in life, fully deserves.
