On July 15, 1986, Christopher Enoch Abeyta, aged seven months, was discovered missing from his crib. After putting their baby to sleep around midnight, the parents discovered that Christopher's crib was empty a few hours later when they checked on him. Christopher's parents reported to authorities that their garage door opener was missing, their basement window was open, and the baby was nowhere to be found. Upon arrival, officers initially found no signs of forced entry, to which the parents said that they had left their front door unlocked the night their son disappeared. According to reports, Christopher's father was in the home the night his son disappeared. This was the first time he and Christopher's mother had separated. This was the first time he had stayed in the home since they had separated, but were in the process of reconciling.

Christopher's parents were initially considered suspects in their son's disappearance as his mother failed two polygraph examinations, claiming that she was withdrawing from tranquilizers. Tips poured in and within weeks of Christopher's disappearance, authorities drained Quail Lake, located less than three blocks from the family's residence. However, the search yielded no results. Christopher was still missing. It has been nearly 37 years and no arrests have been made in connection with Christopher's disappearance, nor have his parents been cleared of their possible involvement. The family of Christopher refuses to believe that he is dead. They state that there's no concrete proof to show that he was in fact abducted, nor killed.

According to a website being managed by his family, the family began receiving hang-up calls approximately six months before young Christopher disappeared. As a result of Christopher's disappearance, these alleged phone calls ceased, but resumed a short time later. Christopher's sister, Emma Bradshaw, strongly believes that the woman who had an affair with their father is responsible for her brother's disappearance. Authorities report that this woman has a history of breaking and entering. Bradshaw's father's mistress maintains her innocence in the case, and has neither been listed as a person of interest nor a suspect. In 2015, the woman obtained a $150,000 civil judgement against Christopher's sister, Emma Bradshaw for interfering with her employment.

In the aftermath of Christopher's disappearance, the Colorado Springs Police Department was accused of destroying a significant amount of evidence relating to the case. In the opinion of Christopher's family, the Colorado Springs Police Department acted negligently and incompetently during and after the investigation. Currently, Christopher's case remains open and active. To date, no updated information or leads have been presented to assist in solving this case, or bringing closure to the family. Is it possible that Christopher's mother knows more than she's disclosing to authorities? She did, in fact, she failed not one, but two consecutive polygraph examinations. Could Christopher's father's mistress have kidnapped the baby as a result of jealousy? After all, she was having an affair with the boy's father. Did she feel resentful that his father had reconciled with the boy's mother? Was she under the impression that having a baby would convince him to leave his wife and kids to be with her?

It's absolutely unbelievable that this baby hasn't been found after nearly 37 years. The fact that the baby's mother failed two polygraph examinations, and has been considered a suspect for three decades, but hasn't been arrested is disheartening. Let us hope and pray that some day, young Christopher gets the justice he rightfully deserves. In addition, let us pray that the extended family who have never given up hope get the closure they are seeking and rightfully deserve.
