Alexander Kinyua attended Morgan State University where his father taught as a college professor. The Kenyan-born engineering student lived a seemingly normal life until 2011 when he attacked a fellow student. Prior to this event, Alexander was well-liked by his peers, smart, and outgoing.

Strange Behaviors

His family said Alexander became fearful after tragic events like Hurricane Katrina and 9/11. He suffered from paranoid schizophrenia, and events like this worried him because he did not know if his family could survive an attack.

Alexander stopped going to church and spent more time at home in his bedroom. He started stashing food in his bedroom, saying he was afraid they would run out of things to eat.

He began hearing voices and thought that aliens were coming to destroy the earth. He thought that he was a prophet and had special powers that no one else did.

His mother also found some type of “manuscript” but said the book contained “gibberish.” She attempted to get mental health treatment for her son but that didn’t go as planned.

Alexander Attacks Roommate

He attacked his roommate at Morgan State University after saying the voices in his head told him to kill him. He hit Joshua Ceasar with a baseball bat, wrapped him in chains and barbed wire and left the man inside the dorm. The brutal attack nearly killed the man but thankfully, he survived. Two days prior to the attack, Kinyua posted bizarre rants on his Facebook page, including this one:

HEAR ME OUT BUTCHERS: ARE YOU STRONG ENOUGH TO ENDURE RITUAL HBCU MASS HUMAN SACRIFICES AROUND THE COUNTRY AND STILL BE ABLE TO FUNCTION AS HUMAN BEINGS? IT'S BEEN ALL TOO TRAGIC WITH THE DUAL UNIVERSITY SHOOTINGS AT VIRGINIA TECH, AND OTHER PAST UNIVERSITY KILLINGS ACROSS THE COUNTRY. NOW FOR A TWIST: ETHNIC CLEANSING IS THE POLICY, STRATEGY AND TACTICS THAT WILL AFFECT YOU, DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY IN THE COMING MONTHS. THIS IS THE BRUTAL BASIS, AN EVIL & TERRIFYING METHOD OF THIS DEATH CULTS.

Kinyua was arrested on aggravated assault charges and given a $220,000 bond. His parents came up with the money and bailed him out of jail.

Murder While Out on Bail

While he was out on bail, Kinyua did the unthinkable: murdered and dismembered a family friend named Kujoe Bonsafo Agyei-Kodi.

The man was staying with the family pending deportation back to Kenya due to non-compliance with the terms of his Visa. he met Anthony Kinyua, the father while attending Morgan State University pursuing a doctoral degree.

Using an ax, Kinyua murdered, dismembered, and burned Kodi, first removing and consuming the man’s heart. Kinyua may also have consumed parts of the man's brain.

Brother Makes Gruesome Discovery

Kinyua’s brother called the police on May 31, 2012, after discovering what looked like body parts in two totes in the basement. Police rushed to the scene, confirming the body parts were real human remains. Additional remains were found inside a dumpster at a church about one mile from the home. Kinyua was taken into custody at this time.

Not Criminally Responsible for Murder

Police took Kinyua into custody, charging him with first-degree murder and first-and second-degree assault. Psychologists examined him, confirming that he was mentally incompetent and a danger to himself and to others. The court indefinitely committed him to a Maryland mental institution after finding him guilty but not criminally responsible for the murder. He remains in custody in the institution today.
