Married Army Medic Manipulates Mistress Into Murdering Wife

Michael was set to collect a $400k life insurance policy on his deceased wife

Former U.S. Army medic Michael Walker met Ailsa Jackson online. The 38-year-old began an affair with Jackson, despite having a wife, Catherine, at home. Upon meeting Jackson, Walker told her his “deepest desire” was to have his wife gone, but financial burdens would not allow that to happen. Jackson shared her mental illness struggles with Walker, telling him she suffered from schizophrenia and “heard voices.”

Walker Convinced Jackson to Murder Wife

Walker and Jackson continued their affair and he gradually convinced her to kill his wife. Soon, the pair began planning Catherine’s murder at some point, sending encoded messages detailing their plans. Jackson would stab Catherine while Walker was working so police would not suspect him of the crime. After all, police always start looking at the husband in spousal murders!

With Catherine out of the way, Ailsa stood to become the new Mrs. Walker. She thought with Catherine gone, the couple would be happier and could move on with their relationship. Walker would gain a $400,000 life insurance payout with Catherine dead, after all.

Walker had affairs with multiple people at the time, including men. Some of those men paid him for sex and sexual favors. “I have a problem. I’m a sex addict,” Walker would later tell police during his interrogation.

On November 14, 2014, Jackson visited the Walker home while Michael worked an overnight shift at the Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu. Catherine was fast asleep in her bed, unaware Jackson lurked into the kitchen, grabbing a large knife that she’d use to stab her to death.

After stabbing Catherine to death, Walker waited around the house for approximately half an hour to make sure she was dead.

When Walker arrived home from work the following morning, he found the grizzly scene and his wife dead. He dialed 911, reporting that his wife had been murdered.

Police Solve the Crime

Police quickly unraveled the love triangle and arrested Jackson in 2015 after apprehending her in Indiana. She pleaded guilty to murder and agreed to testify against Walker.

Jackson testified in court that she asked Catherine for forgiveness for what she had done as she repeatedly stabbed her. She told the court Catherine said that she did forgive her.

Walker Sentenced

Michael Walker will serve a 35-year prison sentence for planning his wife’s murder. His mistress, Ailsa Jackson, will serve 20-years for the murder of Catherine Walker. The judge sentenced Walker to a longer prison term since it was he who wanted Catherine gone.

US District Judge Susan Oki Mollway sentenced Walker to a longer prison term than Jackson since he orchestrated the murder. Had he not convinced Jackson to carry out the act, Catherine Walker would likely be alive still today.

Walker also apologized in court, telling his wife’s family, “I love Cathy very much and I would do anything if it could bring her back.”

Walker Criminal History

This was not the first time Walker had been in trouble with the law. In 2016, he was convicted of child pornography charges. In 2017, he was convicted of physical and sexual assault and wrongfully communicating a threat to a young boy. Investigators uncovered a slew of child pornography as they searched for evidence in this case.
