Statistics of Domestic Violence in Kansas

Truth of the soul

First and foremost the information in this article I acquired from "A report on Domestic Violence and Rape by Law Enforcement agencies" in the state of Kansas. If anyone is in need of help or just need someone to talk to the number for the National Domestic Violence Hotline is 1-800-799-7233. Or if you choose to speak to a representative online you can go to www.the hotline.org. Whomever you speak to will be more than helpful in guiding you through the process of getting to a safe place such as a Domestic Violence Shelter or a family member is is willing to take you in and do the best they can to protect you.

Each state is different in regards to laws and Domestic Violence. If you have access to a computer you can go online and google it, speak to a Police Officer or the counselors at your local Domestic Violence Shelter. Anyone of those will be most helpful as I can only answer for the regulations of Kansas.

I searched for the better part of an hour for statistics for 2019-2020 but with the state of Kansas being stuck in the 1700's as far as updating information or answering questions I was able to find information for the years of 1992 to 2009. So, imagine if you will the numbers will be at a greater high today than they were in 2009. What I found was this:

Domestic Violence time clock 2009: One Domestic Violence Murder occurred every 10.4 days......One Domestic Violence incident occurred every 22 minutes 0 seconds.......Law Enforcement made one Domestic Violence arrest every 41 minutes 48 seconds. With these numbers it certainly doesn't look that bad, however, the numbers throughout the report are rather astonishing.

The trend for 1992-2009 are as follows: Incidents 1992-20,817 and fluctuated to 23,864 in 2009. The arrests during these years in response to the incidents: 1992-7,721 which fluctuates to 12,584 in 2009. Remarkable even during this time frame and I would imagine the numbers would be higher this year.

The murder rate due to Domestic Violence in this time frame is not as accurate as I would like it to be due to "Data not being available" in the report. For example, in 1992, 1994, 1999 and 2002 the data isn't available for me to share. In 1996 there were 159 Homicides, 2000 there were 156 Homicides and in 2001 there were 142 homicides. In 2003 there were 121 Homicides and that number fluctuates with 130 Homicides in 2009.

Domestic Violence occurs through all walks of life. Doesn't matter a persons age, race or walk of life. This cruel and inhumane behavior can happen to anyone at any given time. However, the report I acquired this information from states the average victim is a white female between the ages of 20-24. The average offender is white males in the same age range 20-24. The report also states that Saturday/Sunday between the hours of midnight and 4;00 am are the high volume times of when the abuse occurs. Today, Domestic Violence occurs any day and any time.

On a final note, if you find yourself in this type of situation please utilize the information I gave you. Again, my email address is [email protected]. Please feel free to reach out to me for further guidance as I am here for you if you need me.

Be safe out there!
