Lorenzo Fayne: Serial Killer & Necrophile
7 people died by the hand of this Missouri killer
I Wanted to Hear the Sound of Her Neck Breaking
Lorenzo Fayne raped and murdered five children and two women between 1989 and 1993 in the state of Illinois. He was sentenced to death in 2001, later commuted to life in prison after then-Governor George Ryan imposed a modem banning capital punishment in the state.
Fayne had Low IQ
With an IQ falling between the 60 to 80 range, Fayne was borderline intellectually disabled. He could not read and had trouble learning information in school. From a young age, he was abused, including sexually abused at age 7. He spent his teenage years in and out of juvenile detention facilities and jails where he also became the victim of numerous physical and sexual assaults.
Fayne Suspected in Murder
In 1993, police suspected Fayne of the murder of his neighbor, 17-year-old Faith Davis. The teen had been attacked, raped, and stabbed to death in her apartment, the killer setting fire to the apartment in an attempt to destroy evidence. However, witnesses called the police after the apartment erupted in flames.
Faith’s body was found bent over a coffee table, her legs spread apart and her knees on the floor. Petroleum jelly seeped from her buttocks area. She had been raped. She had numerous stab wounds to the back and upper chest. She had been dragged over the coffee table.
Witnesses Identify Suspect
Witnesses identified the perpetrator as Lorenzo Fayne. Police found bloodstains on Fayne’s clothes and inside his home and took him to the station for interrogation. He eventually confessed to robbing the apartment but denied involvement with the rape or murder.
Police matched fingerprints left at the crime scene to Fayne. Fingerprints also matched those left on the body of 6-year-old Aree Hunt, a young boy who had been raped and strangled to death in 1989. Fayne lured the boy away from a playground. He confessed to this murder, telling police that he killed him because “I wanted to hear the sound of a neck breaking.”
Confession
After speaking with his grandmother, Fayne would confess to the murders of three more people; 14-year-old Latondra Dean, who was raped and stabbed to death in 1992; 9-year-old Fallon Flood, raped and strangled to death in 1992; and 17-year-old Glenda Jones who was raped and stabbed to death.
Flood’s body was found on the floor of a high school in a locker room. She had a belt tightened around her neck and her panties were at her ankles.
Jones died from stab wounds. She agreed to have sex with him but he said something snapped and he killed her. He had sex with her dead body.
He was suspected in the murder of 16-year-old Nicole Willis but DNA evidence eventually excluded him from the list of suspects. Carlos Garett was eventually convicted of her murder in 2013.
All of the victims lived nearby Fayne’s grandmother’s home.
DNA Links Fayne to Another Murder
Dean had been stabbed 24 times. Her body was found lying inside of a bathtub.
In September 2009, DNA evidence linked Fayne to the murder of 32-year-old Rita Scott who had been beaten to death with a blunt object in Milwaukee in 1989. He confessed to the murder and admitted that he had sex with the corpse after killing Scott.
Fayne currently serves his time at the Menard Correctional Center in Missouri.
