Some of the convicted criminals featured below will need to live a few lifetimes to finish out the prison sentences handed down for their heinous crimes. These are the longest prison sentences ever handed down by a court.

Terry Nichols

Convicted of 161 counts of first-degree murder, first-degree arson, and conspiracy, Terry Nichols was sentenced to 151 life sentences plus 9,200 years in prison without the possibility of parole.

One of the two people responsible for the April 19, 1995, Oklahoma City bombing. Nichols was also sentenced on charges of terrorism and eight counts of involuntary manslaughter in federal court.

Michael J. Devlin

Michael J. Devlin was sentenced to 74 life sentences plus 2,020 years for multiple counts of kidnapping that occurred in 2002 and 2007. He was also convicted on charges of forcible sodomy, armed criminal action, transporting minors across state lines to engage in sexual activity, child pornography, attempted murder and attempted forcible sodomy.

Abdullah Barghouti

Barghouti received 67 life sentences plus 5,200 years without the possibility of parole. Barghouti was one of the chief bomb makers and commander of Hamas’ Al-Qassam Brigades. He is responsible for the deaths of 66 Israelis and is currently held in solitary confinement.

Brenton Tarrant

In 2020, Brenton Tarrant was handed down 52 life sentences plus 480 years without parole in New Zealand after he pleaded guilty to murdering 51 worshipers and injuring 40 otters in a Christchurch mosque shooting in 2019.

Gary Ridgway

In 2003, serial killer Gary Ridgway was handed down 49 life sentences, 48 without parole, plus 480 years for the brutal murders of 71 women from 1982 to 1998. Serial killer Ted Bundy helped the FBI capture Ridgway.

Loi Khac Nguyen

In 1991, Nguyen was sentenced to 49 consecutive life sentences without parole after his conviction for 3 murders, 11 attempted murders, and 35 counts of kidnapping. Nguyen was part of the Good Guys siege.

Abdulkadir Masharipov

In 2020, Masharipov was sentenced to 40 life sentences plus 1,368 years in Turkey. The Uzbek national perpetrated the 2017 Instabul nightclub shooting.

James Kevin Pope

In 2008, Pope received 40 life sentences plus 60 years in prison after he was convicted of 40 counts of sexual assault of three teenage girls.

Martin Bryant

Australian Martin Bryant was a mass murderer who pleaded guilty to the murders of 35 people and causing injury to 23 others in 1996. He was the perpetrator behind the Port Arthur Massacre in Tasmania in 1996. Bryant was sentenced to life in prison for each murder plus 1,652 years for the injuries caused.

Chester Stiles

In 2009, a court sentenced Chester Stiles to 21 life sentences with the possibility of parole in 140 years after he was found guilty of 21 counts of rape against a 3-year-old child.

Dudley Wayne Kyzer

Dudley Kyzer murdered his ex-wife, mother-in-law, and a college student visiting his ex-wife at her home. Kyzer was convicted of murder. In 1981, Kyzer was sentenced to two life sentences plus 10,000 years in prison.
