Alabama Prison Official, Vicky White Missing.

Alabama jail official, Vicky White spent 10 days on the lamb with Capital Murder suspect, Casey White. Vicky White helped Casey White escape from the Lauderdale County Jail 10 days prior to the duo's capture. unfortunately, Vicky died Monday of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head according to the Indiana Coroner, Steven W. Locklear who said "Vicky White died at 7 p.m. at the Evansville Deaconess Midtown Hospital". Authorities have said that an autopsy was scheduled to take place today. Vicky and Casey White were located and captured in Evansville, Indiana approximately 5 hours away from where they escaped. The two were captured following a pursuit that led to a crash, according to Vanderburgh County Sheriff, Dave Wedding. As authorities approached the two, Vicky shot herself, subsequently, Casey White was taken into custody.

Vicky White, the 56-year-old Assistant Director of Corrections in Alabama is said to have disappeared while allegedly escorting a capital murder inmate to the courthouse for what was said to be a mental health evaluation. At this time, it is being reported that the 38-year-old inmate, Casey White is also missing. Vicky White has been with the department for approximately 16-years and appears to be out of character for Vicky. The department said that Vicky White and Casey White had left the detention center Friday morning. The vehicle the two were last seen in was in the parking lot of a nearby shopping center, neither the inmate nor the escort was in the vehicle. 38-year-old, Casey White confessed to the killing of a young woman in 2020 while he was in State Prison for unrelated crimes.

A New conference was held on Friday afternoon where it was said that Vicky White was armed with a 9MM when she left the detention center with the inmate around 9:41 A.M. The department further stated that there was no mental health evaluation scheduled at the courthouse for that inmate. So, the question remains, why was Vicky White transporting the inmate if there was no hearing scheduled that day? How did she walk out of the detention center with a capital murderer without anyone realizing that there was no hearing scheduled? The department went on to state that Vicky White told her co-workers that she had a doctor's appointment scheduled, which the department was able to confirm, however, she never showed up for that appointment.

The department said that Vicky White was escorting the inmate by herself which is a direct violation of the department’s policy. The department says, “our policy is for any inmate with those kinds of charges to have two sworn deputies escort them, and that didn’t happen”. Authorities have said that they failed to realize that Vicky White and Casey White were missing from the detention center until approximately 3:30 PM on Friday, some 6 and a half hours after the supposed court hearing was to take place. The department tried to contact Vicky multiple times on her cellphone, but when they did it was said that it would go straight to voicemail. The department is “Aggressively investigating” this incident at this time and said that they would be “looking into previous interactions” between Vicky White and Casey White to see if “something else was going on”.

The department said that it was shocked to even think it could be possible that Vicky White would have helped a Capital Murderer escape, but that’s what it is beginning to look like happened. Lastly, it was reported that Vicky White turned in her retirement papers before she went missing with the inmate on Friday.

At this time the department is unable to say rather or not they believe Vicky had willingly helped the inmate escape, but everything in this story seems to point to the idea that Vicky did help Casey escape. Even if Vicky did help Casey escape, that doesn’t negate the fact that Vicky may very well be in real danger, given Casey’s criminal past and what he is currently incarcerated for. It worries a lot of people that Vicky may suffer the same fate, the Vicky may have made a grave mistake, a grave lack of judgment. Let’s hope that Vicky and the inmate are found, and Vicky is unharmed.
