MLS Playoffs Predictions
Knockout Round By now, the knockout round will have already taken place. Safe to say they did not disappoint. I expected NYCFC to come out on top against Philly, mainly because of Philly’s backline inexperience in the playoffs. I also picked Portland over Dallas because they always disappointed me in the postseason. However, here’s where I was wrong. I had picked the in-form DC United over the Columbus Crew to make it to the conference semi-final. Both teams had their moments, and the game was pretty even overall, but things started to open up in overtime and Columbus were the first to take advantage of the open space. Who other than Federico Higuain to deliver the fatal blow for the Crew on a great header from Harrison’s Afful’s delivery in the box. DC struggled to find an equalizer until Nick DeLeon delivered his team late in overtime. Then came the penalty kicks, or should I say the “Zack Steffen show.” The young US international, who was at fault for DC’s opening goal, put his team on his back, stopping two crucial penalty kicks from DC’s top players: Wayne Rooney and Luciano Acosta. With this victory, Columbus gets ready to face the New York Red Bulls with lots of momentum.

George HermanPublished 4 years ago in CleatsHow to Wear Soccer Shin Guards
It's imperative that you wear soccer shin guards every time you play, but you also have to wear them correctly. If they slip down your shins, don't fit properly, or cause discomfort, then they won't do you any good. Don't go thinking that you're safe without them, either. Your shins deserve complete protection whether you're practicing with your friends or going head-to-head with a rival team. Your legs are your most valuable assets and your most vulnerable body parts in soccer. You have to wear shin guards to stand out as a confident, competent player. Trust me, no one's going to think you're cool or tough just because you're the only soccer player with bare shins. Odds are they'll take advantage of your weakness instead.

The word ‘Legend’ is often over used. That sentence alone has become something of a cliché in itself but the word legend still exists and is banded around as if being a club legend was a simple task to achieve.
Andrew MacfarlanePublished 4 years ago in CleatsKicking and Screaming
In June of 1974, the Chilean National Football team or “la Roja” gathered for a speech presented by their head of state, Augusto Pinochet, before being sent abroad to the World Cup. Only nine months earlier, Pinochet had assumed the position as president of Chile after a successful coup d’etat which resulted in the death of former Socialist President Salvador Allende and the so called “interior war” propagated by Pinochet’s regime against civilians. This speech came days before the team was set to travel abroad to play in the World Cup tournament against West Germany. At the conclusion of the speech, the team members stood in a line as Pinochet and five government officials shook their hands. One member, Leonardo Véliz remembers this experience and stated that, “having to shake hands with the head of a government that practiced state terrorism was very difficult.” Another teammate, Carlos Caszely recalled the same moment, sharing a similar opinion as Véliz. However, Caszely did not submit himself to shaking hands and in that moment refused to do so. “A cold shiver went down my spine” he recalls, “when he started coming closer I put my hand behind me and didn’t give it to him.” According to an interview with the player, Caszely states that his refusal to shake hands with Pinochet came after news of his mother’s abduction and torture by the Chilean police. In retrospect, he believes the initial abduction to be a sort of warning for him to keep his silence about the state of the country while abroad. Caszely’s decision to not acknowledge Pinochet is widely regarded as the first public display of dissidence against the regime since it’s beginning.
Review of West Ham Utd’s Season so Far
Being a dedicated iron, I am hardened to the disappointments of football, and the beginning of the West Ham Utds 18/19 season has provided plenty of that. I’m sure the majority of West Ham fans went into the season with expectations that knew no limits due to the investment from the board and the ambitious appointment of prestigious manager Manuel Pellegrini. But those hopes were quickly deflated by the thrashing at Anfield from a Liverpool side looking to win the title. The game featured many new West Ham signings including; Felipe Anderson, who signed from Italian side Lazio in the summer for a record fee believed to be around 40 million pounds. Ryan Fredericks, a free transfer from newly promoted side Fulham. Lukasz Fabianski, a steal from Swansea, and Fabian Balbuena who signed for a fee of around 3.5 million pounds from Brazil. The Paraguay international did not shine in the thrashing despite being dubbed the Brazilian Ramos by some foreign fans. The Liverpool beating was a kick back down to earth for the entire team and fans as the expectations got the better of them.
Best Shin Guards for Indoor Soccer
We've all heard horror stories of broken fibulas during intense soccer games. That's why players, from youth age to the pros invest in quality shin guards to protect their legs. Shin guards for indoor soccer are easy to find, because shin guards used in soccer will be the same for both outdoor soccer and indoor soccer. Regardless of where you play, every soccer player needs the same protection. Soccer shin guards are used to protect soccer players not only from the soccer ball, but most importantly, from other player’s feet. While indoor soccer may be less risky because players aren’t wearing spiked cleats, you’ll still want protection on your shins from possible kicks.
