Leading up to this game. I wasn’t sure who was going to win. Manchester United was looked promising at the start of the season by beating Chelsea 4-0 at home. As the season went on, the issues were exposed not just from the players. The coach isn’t really qualified to run the team and Ed Woodward does not pick the best football decisions. Even with the new signings of Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, it did not solve the problems at Manchester United. They currently sit in 7th place in the premier league with 38 points after defeating Chelsea 2-0

Chelsea, they plenty of young talents with the likes of Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount, Callum Hudson Odoi, and Christian Pulisic. They were in good form in a few games and Abraham was racking up some goals. Frank Lampard has done a good job with the young players and his coaching style has a made this team better than it was last year. Unfortunately, Chelsea have hit a wall in their form. They still sit in 4th place with 41 points but have closed the gap between 4th place and 7th place by 3 points.

At the beginning of the game, it was an open game. Both Chelsea and Man United had chances at both ends. Batshuayi was given golden chances but missed all of them. As it was getting closer toward the half, I looked as though both teams wouldn’t score. Aaron Wan Bissaka puts a really good cross into the box and Martial scores with a stunning header in the 45th minute.

After the second half started, Chelsea wasn’t as potent as the first half. Manchester United looked the better team. The defense was much better and they looked more aggressive to get the ball back. Man United had good spells of possession, created more chances and it looked as though they were going to score again. Chelsea couldn’t hold on to the ball that long and they looked underwhelming. In the 66th minute, Bruno Fernandes crosses the ball from a corner and Harry Maguire ran from the edge of the box and gets in front of Rudiger and puts the ball in with a powerful header. This goal pretty much sealed the game. Two minutes later, Batshuayi was subbed off ad replaced by Olivier Giroud.

As the game went on, Chelsea had small chances and Giroud made a better impact on the attack. In the 77th minute Mason Mount crosses the ball into Man United’s box and Giroud scores with a diving header into the near post. It looked as though Chelsea could tie the game up. The score is now 2-1. Unfortunately VAR called off the goal because Giroud was offside. The score stays 2-0. Chelsea didn’t stop attacking though. In the 89th minute Chelsea set up a free kick and Man U territory. Reece James runs over the ball and Mount hammers the ball toward the near post but hits the woodwork. David De Gea gets injured in the process trying to save the goal. Some of the Chelsea fans were leaving the stadium because of the frustration toward the players. In the 91st minute Anthony Martial was subbed off and the loanee Ighalo was put into the game. He almost puts away a chance to make the score 3-0 in the 92nd minute but Caballero saves the goal. That would have been a spectacular goal for his debut of the club. The game ends 2-0 and Manchester United leaves Stanford Bridge with another win against the Blues like the previous two meetings between the two clubs, back on Oct 30 in the Carabao Cup Chelsea were beaten 2-1. Also Chelsea were beaten 4-0 at the start of the season back in August. This is Chelsea’s 4th lost in their last 9 games, their 9th loss of the season.

The players of the match were Manchester United Bruno Ferandes, Harry Maguire. Manchester United completed their first league double since 1987-88. Chelsea lost all seven home games in all competitions this season. It was frustrating night for the Blues and the fans. Chelsea face 5th place Spurs Saturday for the battle of 4th place. Manchester United face 19th place Watford Sunday in the Premier League.
