1. runaway, by AURORA

This song perfectly captures the airy, free feeling, with the indie-pop vibes and beautifully carved lyrics that paint the perfect picture in your mind. The best song for a chilled out lazy car journey, but also good for heartfelt times.

2. When I Was Your Man by Bruno Mars

The perfect nostalgic break-up song, full of emotions and sentimental lyrics. Mars's distinctive, on-pitch voice works magic with the song, weaving a wonderful masterpiece you won't soon forget.

3. Campus by Vampire Weekend

Completely different to the previous two, Campus is a great song oozing with potential. The repetition of the verses helps to ingrain the song in your head - not so good if you're not a big fan though! Again, the lyrics are fantastic but contrast starkly in terms of the vibes and aesthetic the song creates. The relaxed tones of the music are great for various moods and, like runaway, will fit in all your playlists.

4. One Day Like This by Elbow

Have you ever felt like taking a snapshot of a moment and reliving it, over and over again? That's the mood that Elbow is portraying in this song, emphasizing how beautiful life and romance is. You just want to stay there, on the grass and live in that snapshot. The lyrics match well with the melody, and this song will blend right in with both your Summer playlist and your Romance one.

5. Creep by Radiohead

Everybody is familiar with the feeling of completely adoring somebody, whilst also comparing yourself to them. Of course, idolizing somebody - especially a person you are familiar with on a social level - is extremely toxic and bad for you. This song reflects that and is perfect for those days when you just feel like no one understands you. Depression is a state of mind for some, and most of the time you just need to Radiohead.

6. champagne problems by Taylor Swift

We all regret past desisions, we all look back on moments with embarassment and a critical eye. Sometimes you don't know what to say when faced with pressure and important questions. That's what this song is for. Unrequited love and break ups can be hard, and relationships can end rockily and som

7.i wanna be your girlfriend by Girl In Red

This song mirrors the feel of those in the friendzone with an LGBTQ+ friendly twist on it. Girl In Red is one of my favourite artists - bearing in mind that I identify as a straight cisgender girl - and she just seems to bring perfect clarity in both her lyrics and melody. This is something we can all relate to at a certain level. I just love the sincerity and bluntness of the song.

8.Lose Your Head by London Grammar

If you're not familiar with London Grammar, I can tell you now: you should be. 2021's single Lose Your Head is a fantastic romance/break up song. The lilting tones and soprano of the lead singer's voice make the track sound almost surreal, yet grounded and relatable.

9. One Foot Wrong by P!nk

The lyrics in this hit hard and paint a tale of insecurity and a certain level of detachment from the real world. P!nk's punk style vocals match with the pop-rock melody and aesthetic feel.

10. Jolene by Dolly Parton

A timeless classic. Who doesn't love Dolly? Her distinctive country vocals match with the lyrics, which weave a story of jealousy and suspected infidelity. It encapsulates the pain many feel from love - Dolly's found her love, but he's been wooed by the stunning Jolene. Feeling insecure, Parton goes on to compare the two of them, singing that Jolene is much prettier than her.
