'Skylines' Season 2 Is Canceled!!! Is Netflix Hiding Something?

It's true... the show Skylines will no longer be coming back for a season two on Netflix and I haven't been this upset since I found out that Tuca and Bertie was cancelled. Since Skylines is a Netflix Original, it won't be showing anywhere else. Once it's cancelled on Netflix... it's gone.

So, why is Netflix cancelling all its season 2 plans?

Just in case you don't know yet, Skylines is a Netflix original based in Frankfurt, Germany. It follows the story of a "young, talented hip-hop producer [who] signs with a record label where he finds that the worlds of music and organized crime collide." (IMDb). Season two was announced some advertising for the exciting new season even started to show up. Bloggers and fans all over the world got excited for the next season of Skylines... and then it got cancelled. Why?

The truth is... Netflix isn't telling anyone why. When is comes to explanations for cancellations Netflix leaves everyone waiting for an answer that they never get around to giving. For me this is bad... because it causes me to think of strange and usually wrong explanations. What ever the reason is, it can't be because people didn't like Skylines because it's reviews are amazing! Skylines has a 7.7/10 on IMDb and an 88% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes... but that still didn't save it from it's short one season life.

With that said... the cancellation of Skylines is probably due to the lawsuit on the first season. Actually, that is more than likely why... which also explains why Netflix has been trying to keep all hush hush about the cancellation. I wonder if there was a lawsuit for Tuca and Bertie as well?

Jan Lehmann, the owner of the very real Skyline records in Frankfurt Germany

So what is this lawsuit all about? As explained by Jacob Roberson from 'What's On Netflix, the lawsuit is from a man named Jan Lehmann who is the owner of a company called Skyline Records. Sound familiar? It doesn't end there... he has accused Netflix of several offences. Netflix is in a bit of hot water after their original story in a series chance of being sued for hurting the image rights of Skyline Records. So far the public knows that Jacob Roberson has not attempted to sue Netflix but he has also tried to get a restraining order against Netflix. Long story short, chances are that Skylines isn't coming back... or, at least not until after everything is settled in court. Sorry Skylines fans.

This isn't the first time that this has happened to Netflix over one of it's originals. Have you seen the Netflix Original Movie called The Laundromat yet? It was advertised to be "based on actual secrets" and I guess that must be true because Netflix was almost sued for it.

“This lawsuit was a frivolous legal stunt designed to censor creative expression,” a Netflix representative said in a statement. “[This] film tells an important story about the exploitation of innocent people and the misuse of the world’s financial system."

Long story short, Netflix did win the case and you can still watch The Laundromat on Netflix today. I don't know about you but I am certainly interested. With a legal background this big, both Skylines and The Laundromat has been put on my 'to watch' list.
