Surfing with The Beach Boys
This is a very popular and well known American rock band, whose beginnings were in Hawthorne, California in 1961. The original Beach Boys were Brian, Dennis, and Carl Wilson, Mike Love, and Al Jardine. They gained almost immediate popularity and one of their all-time favorite songs, “Good Vibrations,” was released in 1966. They continue to be popular today as the surviving members continue to perform. In 1983, Dennis Wilson drowned and in 1998, Carl Wilson died of lung cancer. The remaining members came together as The Beach Boys for their 50th anniversary. They have sold over 100 million records all over the globe and were listed as number 12 on Rolling Stone magazine’s 2004 list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988.
Rasma RaistersPublished 5 years ago in BeatReason First: Will Remy Ma Move West?
Is Nicki Minaj somewhere drinking champagne, laughing, and popping cheeseballs in her mouth? Her fellow rapper and arch rival Remy Ma has found herself in yet another legal matter for allegedly punching Brittney Taylor in the face. After serving six years behind bars, Remy Ma may seem to not have the bearing to deal with life on the outside. Her willingness to turn herself in is at least a good move. The comparatively low bail set at $1,500 signals that she at least has the wherewithal to post such a relatively minuscule bail.
Skyler SaundersPublished 5 years ago in BeatReason First: Soulja Boy's Pathway to Redemption
The boasting and exuberance that Soulja Boy displayed on Instagram posts and at radio station appearances stand in stark contrast with his solemn and subdued demeanor while wearing an orange jail jumpsuit. For months, he had been declaring that he claimed the greatest comeback in the year 2018 as far as the rap world is concerned.

Let me start off by saying that I am an Avril Lavigne fan from way back. All the way back to “Complicated” and “Sk8er Boi” in fact. As far as I know, I own a copy of all of her albums, and had the chance to see her in concert once on a college campus in my hometown of Pittsburgh. So, it would not be a shocker for me to say that I think she is a talented artist. That being said, while there are always a few songs from every album that even the biggest fans don’t like, of her work or anyone else’s, the newest release “Head Above Water” is probably her best to date.

Daniel BanksPublished 5 years ago in BeatPastor Chancellor J. Bennett: Part 2
When Chance the Rapper performs, it is as if he is opening up his scrapbook and saying, “Look how God has blessed me! Here’s proof!” as he flips through. The crowd watches and listens intently like a dutiful congregation as The Social Experiment plays gospel music.
Pastor Chancelor J. Bennett: Part 1
In a constant “God dream,” Chancelor Bennett–known on stage as “Chance the Rapper”–stands apart from other rappers in his reverent approach to music. While this approach is not uncommon among Christian artists, and other musicians in the religious genre, it is entirely opposite that of most rappers.

Amanda GabriellePublished 5 years ago in Beat"Make it Better" by Anderson .Paak Review
Anderson .Paak is an artist that can do no wrong in my eyes. Whenever I do an Anderson .Paak review, I end up gushing emphatically for about 600 words, and for good reason. Sonically, he’s pleasing to listen to whether rapping, singing, or just talking honestly. The bridging of funk, R&B, soul, hip hop/rap (and gospel influences) allows him to create tracks that are incredibly pleasing to listen to, before even listening to the lyrics themselves. Enter his latest album, Ventura, released in mid-April, which has glowing reviews.

Amanda GabriellePublished 5 years ago in BeatWhy We Should All Stan Ariana Grande
Not only does Ariana find a way to intrigue us with a voice powerful enough to hypnotize us, she somehow always finds a way to pull at our heartstrings more and more each day. Along with singing, Ariana also uses her voice to speak out against discrimination, to appreciate culture, and to speak about topics (such as LGBTQ and mental health) many people in our society today tend to dismiss.

Eminem has been controversial for his entire career, but now he's making news by doing things that Republicans don't like. Which is, sort of, different? Revival has been pretty unpopular with Eminem fans, and most hip hop fans, too. And yes, it's definitely not his best album, at all. Like I'd say it's one of the worst. But nothing could beat Relapse, maybe, probably, I guess, we'll see.
