Charly KuecksPublished 3 years ago in BeatBWIM: A Salute to the Party!
Party Hardy! Is what they used to call me. I am an Old School R&B party girl. The Eighties was my turf. Going to the Club was an Art to me. It could have been a science too. I would either go with my sister DD and my brother-in law, Steven and Tina, Diane and E-Fraj. That was the older crew. Then I had my crew - Terri, Nadine, DD and myself. Oh, these two crews were exclusively the Weekend. During the week I would party with Michelle. Michelle and I worked across the street from each other and after work we would hit the club usually on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday.

Reminiscing on the days when I was young and couldn't even understand the coded mastery presented in the music from such a celestial pair, I welcome nostalgia. Being from the west side I had a specific idea of how music sounded. Accustomed to what I was used to I had to learn the different styles and various forms of creativity expressed in art across the country. Black creativity was not new to me. Coming from the west side the household names were N.W.A., Tupac, Too $hort, Nate Dogg, and im sure you can picture the rest. So, that introduction to the alternative soul represented in the rhymes of Outkast and Andre 3000 himself has changed my life forever.

Bennie ColemanPublished 3 years ago in BeatOn The Rocks: A Rocky Road
On The Rocks is is a drama from Sofia Coppola starring Bill Murray, Rashida Jones, and Marlon Wayans. The red flags started early in this lackluster drama when its first words were, (spoken by the main character’s father): “And remember, don’t give your heart to any boys. You’re mine. Until you get married. Then you’re still mine.”

The Cell gives us Tolerance Party #4, "The Signal Through The Noise". Joseph Hendel gives the viewer a very interesting play; two main characters with different lifestyles as well as different views of the world. The entire play takes place in a breakout room where we encounter a total of three characters, two of whom are the main focal point of a well written play; for the most part. Hendel presents the bohemian actor, Heather Mo Witz as a woman who is educated in a Charter school and has certain ideas about the world. Although a somewhat radical bohemian, she is not immersed in overly radical ideas; she simply makes her points and listens for a reaction. She hears more from the noise than her counter part India Menete(~ over the N). India is a suburban housewife who sees the world in a different place; this place involves her children, parades and a sense of history that omits the imperfections. Where India hears a parade, Heather sees slavery, injustice and a global New World Order that is out of her grasp.

They included “Come and Get It” (written and produced by Paul McCartney), “No Matter What”, “Day After Day” and “Baby Blue”.
