Beef History

It’s been a little controversial whether or not Nicki and Cardi have actually had a beef going on.

In March 2017 Cardi dropped a short freestyle on Instagram. A fan captured a screenshot, which is debatable on whether the image is faked or not, which appeared to show Nicki Minaj liking a comment that said, “dumb ass bars.”

On Nicki’s track "No Flag", the track also features Cardi B’s boyfriend Offset, the Queen fired shots at Cardi.

“I heard these labels are trying to make another me. Everything you’re getting little hoe is because of me.”

It’s controversial on if this line is aimed at Cardi, but all signs point to yes. However, Nicki later clarified that the line was not aimed at Cardi and that she had written the line months prior.

Even if the line was not meant for Cardi it can be taken as a diss because the young rapper felt targeted from the track.

Cardi tweeted what can be taken as a reaction shortly after the song's release, “I don't bother with these hoes, Don't let these hoes BOTHER Me!💁🏽”

On G Eazy’s No Limit Cardi B allegedly fired a shot that many believe is aimed directly at Nicki.

“Can you stop with all the subs? Bitch I ain’t Jared.”

Weeks after, Cardi denied dissing Nicki claiming that the two rappers have no beef. During an interview on The Breakfast Club, Cardi stated that the pair had “conversated.” She elaborated by saying,

“This is the thing- you know, people don’t understand, though, that I got like beef with 10 bitches still in the hood, and I still be in the hood.”

Shortly after "Bodak Yellow" hit the number one spot Nicki was quick to congratulate Cardi by saying:

“Congratulations to a fellow NEW YAWKA on a RECORD BREAKING achievement. Bardi, this is the only thing that matters!!! Enjoy it.”

Cardi reacted to the tweet by thanking her and in return saying:

“This means sooo much coming from you!”

Nicki and Cardi featured on Migos song "Motorsport" that was released in October 2017. This was the first single released from Migos’ coming up album Culture II, and was the first collaborations between Nicki and Cardi. They both appeared in the official music video in separate scenes.

Fans took the lyrics from the two rappers and noted them as taking shots at one another. Cardi cleared up the rumors during her interview with Capital XTRA stating that she has spoken with Nicki briefly. She added that Nicki’s verse on the final cut was different to the original one that Cardi had heard prior to release.

Hours before the release of Invasion Of Privacy Cardi addressed the beef.

“I just feel like it’s really internet made-up,” she stated during an interview. “I don’t really have the time for that. If you not fucking my man, or if you’re not taking my money from me, if you’re not stopping my money, then I don’t really give a fuck about you.” She added, “I spoke to her before, in person. So I always say I don’t want anybody sneak-dissing me. If it’s something that we can talk it out, then we can talk it out, because it’s not always rah rah this or rah rah that.”

While on her platform Queen Radio, Nicki gave Cardi a little backhanded advice. She stated:

“To me, she may have taken an issue with things that I’ve said, but I’m not going to bite my tongue. You gotta have thick skin. People talk shit about me all the time. You can’t be expect to be liked and loved and praised all the fuckin’ time. Give me a break.”

At Haarper’s Bizarre’s party at New York Fashion Week, Cardi B got into a physical altercation with Nicki. According to TMZ, Cardi was aiming to resolve their issues when she approached Nicki’s table. However, after taking an elbow to the face Cardi attempted to physically fight and threw her shoe during the scuffle. Cardi later made a statement:

“I’ve let a lot of shit slide! I let you sneak diss me, I let you lie on me, I let you attempt to stop my bags, fuck up the way I eat! You’ve threatened other artists in the industry, told them if they work with me you’ll stop fuckin’ with them!! I let you talk big shit about me!! I addressed you once in person, I addressed you a second time in person, and every time you copped the plea!! But when you mention my child, you choose to like comments about me as a mother, make comments about my abilities to take care of my daughter is when all bets are fuckin’ off!! I’ve worked to hard and come too far to let anybody fuck with my success!!!! Bitches talk all that shit in they raps but in real life they pussy!! This shit really is for entertainment!!”

Cardi avoided using Nicki’s name directly in her statement. After the fight, Cardi was escorted out by security.

2018 has been a year for beef in the game and several artists have been coming out with diss track after diss track. Shortly after the public fight between Nicki and Cardi, Nicki released her album that features a diss track "Barbie Dreams" which took aim and half the rappers in the game.
