“Our personas represent the roles we play on the worldly stage; they are the masks we carry throughout this game of living in external reality” (Whitmont 14). All superheroes are superficial persona as well as the subconscious brought to light. The world knows them as patriotic Captain America, mighty Iron Man, unerring Hawkeye. This is truest for Black Widow, a name with associations far beyond her character.
The Judoon returned! Not the most exciting twist of the episode? Fair enough. But after the Trump businessman last season, and many other social commentary episodes, the Doctor’s describing them as “trigger-happy police” and thus an enemy, seems rather pointed.
They also tie into more than the nostalgia factor -- they're one indicator of many of all the converging elements.
“Redemption,” the final episode of the season does not tie in significantly to Rise of Skywalker, but it carries on plot threads last seen in Clone Wars and Rebels, while going full hero’s journey.
