Rubbing its whiskers this-way-and-that, it tried to search for the warmest spot to rest its weary head. Squirming in the palms of what seemed like a giant to it, the babe tucked its legs underneath of itself, trying to retain as much heat as possible.

Lurking in the depths of Crescent Lake, Cressie swam calmy after having filled her belly with a school full of fish. "That should tide me over until the next spawning season. Bass this time, crappies the next. Ugh, if only I was in that lake where it's illegal to catch and release pike. I'd take care of their problem in no time. Oh well."

The humming of cicadas had silenced the sound of his car door slamming shut, meanwhile the lights still shined in hers. Brimming with hesitation, he'd prepared himself to walk over. Lifting the handle the noise of the SUV's light greeted him as the door peeled open. Stepping inside, a soft *thump* closed behind him.
