Compartmentalization
What does it mean when someone compartmentalizes? Compartmentalizing is an internal process of putting your feelings toward someone, or some experience, in a box, and putting them on a shelf in the back of your mind to be forgotten, or stirred up when something reminds you they're there. It's a defense mechanism for those that are better at just pushing forward or moving on. It allows them to not deal with, come to terms with or even accept the issue at hand.

Face Your Demons or They Will Face You...
I am naturally introverted... and according to my mother, I have been since I was a child. I don't really remember these days but what I do remember is not wanting to be bothered with friends outside of school or sports. Writing stories in my journals that no one would ever have the privilege to see or read. I was outgoing but I wasn't. I was social but I wasn't. My mom was forced to get a second line in the house because of my sister...she was born with a phone attached to her earlobe, now I can barely get her to call me back. I didn't like the phone much and I am still partial to face to face conversations.

Forgiveness Is Not for Them...It's for You
I have worn hurt and resentment across my chest like a badge of honor. I have pulled the scabs off of old wounds myself just so others could see that I was bleeding. From the shadows, I would point in the direction of my offender and prosecute them over and over for a crime that they had committed years prior all because I refused to forgive.

I remember hearing as a teenager that I was just in 'heat' as a reference to me liking a person. I remember the terms, puppy love and smitten. I even remember the word that I still use to this day, crush. (I have a crush on someone right now if we're being honest)

My Ex. My Cousin. His Wife.
I committed a crime in early 2010 that would gift me a two year sentence in the Florida Department of Corrections. As new meat on the block, I was being pursued by many of the women that were trying to pass their time by having a little fun, and being 'gay for the stay,' a prison termed used for woman that have no interest in the same sex outside of the prison gates.
