My Lady in Blue
I watch you sitting on the edge of the bed stretching your nude stockings up and over those long smooth legs. The first one passes right above the dark mole God placed just to the left of your knee, softening the color somewhat when pressed against your pale skin.

Heartsill Wilson & Grandma
When my mother gave me my first purse and wallet I felt so grown up. I must have been in the 5th or 6th grade. I loved all the little pockets within that wallet where I could place my school picture, my friends school pictures, my library card and on that rare occasion, money.

I Can See Clearly Now
I can still feel the calm of the midnight sun. Inky sky with stars shining like tiny solar lights. So close to the touch. Rows of small houses parked side by side. Some with graveled yards, some with faded grass harboring the occasional dandelion wish flower half blown off in the summer breeze.

Standing Offline
I’m watching the world wake up outside my kitchen window. Blue skies, sunshine and brave little birds toddle across the lush green carpet of lawn spread wide between two fence lines. They feed from the springtime worms nestled in the earth just below the surface, and I think here in Washington State this may be as close to Ireland as I’ll ever get.
