Bio
Writing is my source of peace. I write short stories: memoirs, fiction, and on matters of the soul.
Writing could have been a career for me but I let it slip away. It’s never too late to start again. I hope you enjoy what you read here.

Reconciliation
Before the new Love Poem Challenge came out my interest in poetry had sparked. I've read tons of poetry here on Vocal from amazingly talented people who inspire me. As I read their lines, I noticed how deep they ventured into their hearts and souls and then expressed their thoughts and feelings through words. I wondered how in the world do they do it so well?

My Dad, The Hero of My Life
Dear Dad, You are my Hero and always have been, although I don't think I've ever told you why. I think of you every day. My heart swells with pride when I remember everything we did together or when I relay a story or something you said.

Heroes or Foes?
Insomnia is a significant issue in my life, and I've written about it several times. Writing down my thoughts on this is my way of putting together the reasons why this happens and finding ways to resolve it if possible. I have no one to talk to regarding this particular subject but that's okay. I have my notebook and my pen.

Hometown Heroes of Humanity
Thanks to my father, an avid writer, and my mother, an English Literature Major, they instilled my love of writing, reading, and books. My mom used to become so exasperated with me because I hadn’t read William Faulkner or any of Shakespeare’s sonnets. She seriously thought something was wrong with me.

My Home Away From Home
Last night I stayed up late in an effort to finish a short story I was working on. I'm a stickler for going to bed early because my sleeping hours tend to vary as I grow older and my days are highly active. Rest is ultra important for me.

Love Kept Him Alive
"Amanda, did you hear the news?" A beautiful young girl with long wavy, brown hair and bright green eyes smiled to herself, pretending not to hear young Charles as she swung on the swing of the old oak tree in front of her home in Macon, Georgia.

A Brand New Day
Yesterday, I wrote something about the benefits of Vibrational Sound Healing. Surprisingly, this morning after I wrote this poem I felt inspired to add some music to this piece. I went to Youtube and typed in the name of my poem and this video came up. It's perfect! I hope you enjoy the poem and music. Please listen to the song afterward, A Brand-New Day by Danny Gokey.

The Darkness of Night
When Tracey opened her eyes, she had no idea how long she had been unconscious. She squinted her eyes at the blue sky above her, the sun harsh and bright. A gentle breeze sent a few strands of hair into her face, but when she tried to wipe them away, a throbbing pain shot through her left shoulder.
