Steven Rice
Bio
Growing up I had many visions of what I wanted to be when I grew up. At times I was relentless on becoming a Power Ranger or a writer. After thirty years, the path that seems most obtainable is becoming a writer.

Trauma and Death Has Made Me Like The Holidays LessTop Story - December 2023
Not to be a "Debbie Downer" (no hate to Debbies of the world), but the holidays have become more unenjoyable. Before you call me a Scrooge or Grinch, hear me out! As you can tell by the title, I have had a fair share of trauma and death in my 30 years of life. I believe this has led to me not being so holly jolly during the beloved trio of major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's).

The Woes Of Christmas
This is a newspaper article written about my mother when I was just a baby grain of rice. I share it every year around the holidays. I hope it helps others grasp that not everyone is thriving during the holiday season. You can read more of my story/thoughts here.

Why Mental Health Matters to Me
One secret I fail to keep is that I grew up poverty-stricken. Food banks, Hud housing, and bill roulette was ingrained in the Rice Household daily. With the lack of funds came the lack of proper medical care. I can count on one hand the times I saw a doctor when I was a child. And two of those times were emergencies (shot in the head and a sliced finger, stay tuned for my memoirs). So, it shouldn't come as a shock that mental health was nowhere on my radar.

I Do...Not.
As I stood in my wedding dress and my makeup artist touched up my lips, I heard my wedding party cheering. Did Taylor Swift accept my invitation and just show up? No. Yet, much like Swift herself, something did drop from the heavens above. I opened the window and called out, “What is that!?!” All at once, the group made their way inside and up the stairs to me.
