ON BELIEF IN MAGIC AND THE MAGIC OF BELIEF: #1
I was putting together some promo clips for a podcast I'm designing, the Positively Curious Podcast (see the link at the bottom) - in which I question an issue of the day and try to arrive at an uplifting or optimistic viewpoint - and i was asked to look at the issue of marriage, children and families in the LGBTQIA+ community. My marriage seems "straight" at first glance and is classed as such on all the legal papers, and we don't have kids; but I really feel the importance of kids and their parents listening to each other and learning from each other on these kinds of issues, with neither side being overly prejudiced in, or overly proud of, their own point. So, rather than rely on personal knowledge as I did for the other promo clip questions, I went off to do one of my favourite things - reading - and try my best to share what I'd read, with my best try at brevity and wit. Here's a fair facsimile of what I found and how I delivered it.
